He's only shedding once a month, that's pretty average, so I haven't seen a real need to get him checked out unless his condition worsens.
From what the breeder tells me, his condition is congenital, so I'm not sure a stool sample would help much but if he continues to decline I may do so.

Re: Morzan and Homura
Well Morzan shed Sat or Sun and I fed him yesterday. So far, he's holding down his food so I really do think it's just because he didn't have the energy to digest and shed. I'll continue to keep an eye on him just in case. I pretty much just lift his hides looking for a regurge and then leave him alone.
He took a lot of convincing this time and wouldn't eat the mouse until I have washed off the NutriBAC and let it sit in warm water for a couple minutes. Spent 30 minutes trying to convince him to eat and then he did. I'm going to start over the count with the 3 gram fuzzies before I try a 4 gram fuzzy, and I'll just have to not offer food next time he goes into shed. I really hope he moves up to 4 gram fuzzies easily, and hopefully 5 grams, I dare not hope for 6 grams, but he really needs to get some food in him and put on some weight.
Homura is doing the same, she continues to grow and remains the more active of the 3 rainbows, although last time I had Sanji out he was quite the adventurer! Climbed up on my shoulders and on my ponytail. He's getting so long now that I can easily figure out where he is even if I can't see him.

Re: Morzan and Homura
As a small update, Morzan has taken a second meal since the second regurge and has kept it down so far. Once again he was a pain to get eating, much easier than last time. I just had to jump the mouse up and down on his back until he was pissed enough to pop his head up out of the bedding like a cobra and strike it, and ended up coiling at the same time.
Homura is currently in a shed cycle, I thought she was in the last photo I posted but I'm still not 100% confident in my abilities with her yet so didn't mention. But, lo and behold a few days later she was blue. ^.^

Re: Morzan and Homura
With the negatives going on with Morzan here's another update on Homura. She shed the other day and weighed in at 189 grams today so I gave her the biggest baby from the surprise litter fresh-killed, he was 19 grams. She's officially been started on medium adult mice! She's just on the smaller end for now, but should grow into them quickly. I have 3 others that still need to put on some size but they should hold her over.
She has nothing weird going on with her skin and is totally healthy. lol I'll try to do an update on Sanji when he sheds.

Re: Morzan and Homura
Good news re Homura. Always nice when they're progressing as intended.
I'm rooting for morzan also, he's a sweet little snake so hopefully the scale issue turns out to be temporary.

Re: Morzan and Homura
I realized I never posted these! Homura has grown a lot in the 6 or 7 months I've had her. She's nearly Sanji's size, and he's 10 months older. I'd have to get recent weights on them, but as of their last weights she's only about 70 grams behind him, but in person he's clearly much longer yet.
Vs when I got her in March:
Her color has lost the pinkish look to it, but she's still a highlighter orange. I've found the Canon is just more prone to the red spectrum so she looks darker orange than she really is using flash. Unfortunately there won't be many chances for natural lighting now that the weather is too cold to take them out.
I'll be updating on Morzan in his other thread while I'm waiting to see if he recovers and makes it through this rough patch.

Re: Morzan and Homura
Homura weighed in at 193 grams last week, and I had her out for a few pics. Her feeding day is a bit late as I've been sick but I should be able to give her a mouse today. She's growing quite nicely, she's outstripped Sanji's growth, but hasn't caught up to his size yet. Especially since Sanji has hit his biggest growth spurt yet. haha

Re: Morzan and Homura
Homura is yet another snake to go into shed.
In this photo you can actually see the milkiness, she's starting to go out of blue which is why the camera is having a hard time picking it up.

Re: Morzan and Homura
I don't think I took post-shed pics but here's a photo from the other day.

Re: Morzan and Homura
Some more of Homura. If she looks this good indoors I cannot wait to get her out in the sun again. I woke up today to a summer sunlight and was thrown completely off. It's still not above 60 today, but it looks like it should be! Hopefully by end of next month we'll be warm enough I can take some snakes out.
