Re: Post Leopard Geckos

Sorry to double post, but I just took pics of Malala.

Through the glass 'cause I didn't want to disturb her while she was asleep:

Interesting, I did not know that. So is it strictly a temperature issue or does genetics still play a roll as to which ones will react to the condition(s) during incubation?

All these leos makes me miss my lil Peanut. Lost her to eggbinding when she was only 8yrs old. She was the forum mascot on another forum to which I belonged -- a beloved star of "stage and screen". One of her more popular roles for any who might be interested ......

I keep mine on loose, bio-active substrate. It's been working out wonderfully! I can't recommend it enough.

Yes, in leopard geckos it's strictly a temperature issue.

I'm sorry you lost your Peanut. That's tough.

Awesome if rather that than the paper I've been using for years. What does your substrate consist of?

Re: Post Leopard Geckos

That depends on the enclosure. I have some on backyard dirt, some on Eco Earth/washed playsand, and then I have a few unnatural ones on Repti Bark, but they all have spring tails, wood mites, and a few have earth worms in there.

Re: Post Leopard Geckos

Wish we'd get more leo pics!!

Here's big old Dukey. Almost 4 years old, 10 inches and absoloutely no giant blood in him! parents were both 8-9 inches. He is a mack snow but yellowed out a lot though as some of the lower quality macks do.

Chomper the rescue mack snow. In my previous thread "New Rescue" you can see that he was just skin and bones and very under grown. He has since gained a ton of weight and even put on a tiny bit of length. Not sure on his age but i'm guessing still young, a little under 2 since he did grow in length.

Re: Post Leopard Geckos

They are all beautiful. Can't wait to get mine. Just on the process of saving up. Decided to get a Leopard Gecko after my snake died. Also anyone wondering both my snakes that I died both died for some disease. Sadly I didn't really think that a disease would be a reason for death so I used the same cage. The good news was that it wasn't near my little Crestie. After those deaths I really decided to just stick with lizards and cleaned the cage out very well with lots of methods I found over the the Internet. I really hope this time will be better lol. Anyway kind of my little update as I haven't been on for a while. It's funny cause my Crestie just seems invincible lol I love him to bits

Snakes rule dude. Probably your fault on the death. They are very resilient animals.

Re: Post Leopard Geckos

You know what I do blame my self for it and you don't have to rub it in. The first one actually came to me with it and I was stupid enough to put a second one in the same cage because I didn't know it was a disease at the time. The difference is I don't try and hide that it was my fault and I feel bad about it (got a full refund from the breeder for the first snake on the positive side anyway) he did say sorry about it but I mean I'm lucky it didn't kill all my little critters

It's my job. What kind of snake was it? I can't imagine what killed two snakes on a small time table (assumption) If boides then possibly IBD

Re: Post Leopard Geckos

One was a corn and one was a milk snake. I can't remember what the disease was as it has been a while now from when I found out and I have had to do lots of other stuff so it has kind of slipped my mind.
