Ugh, I hate talking about this stuff- it's really saddening.

It is saddening. makes me want to stop eating chicken, and turkey, even seafood but I'm from New Orleans and I could never not eat seafood.
I'd be happy living off of seafood, vegetables, fruit, soy, nuts, etc.

Re: Anyone have bunnies?
I think the UK must have better welfare laws cos our chickens and turkeys get the same rights as cattle - anything that is for human consumption has to pass certain standards.
Yes you can still buy battery chicken and it is cheaper but i think the majority of shoppers buy meat that is a few pence dearer but has the guarantee of humane treatment.
When we can afford it we buy all our meat stuffs from a local farm, they rear, slaughter, butcher and sell everything from duck chicken turkey and rabbit through to various porks, boars, and multiple breeds of cattle. It works out a little dearer so we cant afford to do it all the time but when we can we do - the bonus is the meat tastes SOOOO much better!!!

Re: Anyone have bunnies?
My sister has a minilop:
Also, a friend of mine has chickens, although he just has them for eggs. But, if they stop laying eggs, they kill and eat them(I dont know how they kill them, ive never asked) and his chickens are never mistreated, overfed, or underfed. Same thing with his cows, theyre kept healthy and happy until they bring them to his uncle's slaughter house. but, they dont have many cows or chickens at one time.

Re: Anyone have bunnies?
We just rescued a "Lionhead" bunny (I think?). This little girl is adorable as can be! The daughters of the previous owner turned out to be allergic, and the fact the bunny apparently bit the mother a few times didn't help its case any. So, we got her tonight, gonna let her chill and start working with her tomorrow. I'll post some pics then. Stay tuned!
