Re: If money was no object, which snake would you buy?
I see all these boas and pythons, all this yellow and pink... If money was no object, i'd buy 'em all....
...and sell them for garter snakes!!
If money was no object, and i could find one, i think this is it. There are a lot of others, but not exactly unaffordable... san frans are illegal, most of the garters i'd want aren't TOO expensive... but this guy... this guy is awesome.

I would get a caramel glow ball python. I don't know how much it is, but any snake is too expensive, right now I'm only making enough to feed the two I've got w/ a little left over. The website I got the pic from is NERD on Snakes and More Snakes

Re: If money was no object, which snake would you buy?
gotcha, that would make sense then, so its not so much illegal, just illegal without a permit right? or is it another one of those things that varies state to state?

Re: If money was no object, which snake would you buy?
I'd open a reptile rescue. Kind of already started with my 3 adoptions...hey it's a start! But i'm seriously looking into it! I need a house *lol* and the tax stuff, etc. But If i had money i'd just go out there and get all the people who have things they don't want and take them! Not trying to be ritious or egotistical, but a rescue is my goal right now IRL : )
OH but I would have to have some axanthic beauties...hehehe.
Maybe hognose, and ball pythons...oh and a rainbow boa!
These pics are from Corey Woods, and ExtremeHogs.com

No permits, Not even zoos can touch these, The only zoo I know of in the US that has them is the San Francisco zoo.
The specimens in Europe were exported almost 50 years ago before the endangered status.
In fact this is one of the only species of animal at all that has caused federal shutdown of construction sites because one of them got killed by a bulldozer.
Court Motion Filed to Restrict Illegal Sharp Park Golf Course Activities, Protect Endangered Species
Quote:
The San Francisco garter snake has been dubbed “the most beautiful serpent in North America,” and it’s arguably one of the most endangered species, too. All known populations of this fantastically colored snake occur in scarce coastal and bayside wetlands in San Mateo County. The snake’s preferred habitats have been hit hard by agricultural, residential, commercial, and even recreational development — so the Center is working to protect and restore habitat for this rare and unique turquoise serpent.

This also explains why I keep Thamnophis Infernalis (The immediate closest genetic relative I can legally keep)
Infernalis....(My specimen)
San fran...(UK captive specimen)
The only visual difference is the connecting black bars.

Re: If money was no object, which snake would you buy?
I would get a Borneo. Already told my husband that's what I want next. I fell in love with the markings and the one I held just made it more intense.
