Re: What Type Of Carpet Python?

Thanks soooo much guys!!! When its at its lowest 28% Thats where its at right now. When I misted it this morning it spiked to 83%. I am having trouble keeping it up. Its winter and cold here right now. The air is very dry. I also have a lamp on both cages right now. I have heard that can zap humidity quickly. The males eye did not have a stuck eyecap. The eye socket is swollen from the mites. Time to kill these little buggers! I plan on treating the cages in the morning. The female right now is getting cloudy. Her eyes have clouded up quite a bit. I am trying to keep the moisture up on her to help with the shedding. Can't wait to see how she looks when shes done!!!! They both ate a medium rat each. It took a while for her to get it down. How often should I feed these guys. Once every 1 to 2 weeks? Would one medium rat be enough or should I feed them more? They both ate great. The female did get a mouth full of dirt. Its clean now though. I am using Eco Earths Coconut substrate. Its says its digestible so hope she passes it fine. Its a very very fine texture. Thanks again for the advice! I still can't believe how calm and docile they are.

Re: What Type Of Carpet Python?

i would feed once every 10 to 15 days,if a medium rat does not leave much of a feeding bulge, then put them onto large rats

cheers shaun

Re: What Type Of Carpet Python?

Well guys. I need a quick answer! I might be getting another 9ft carpet. Very sweet and docile. Original owner since a baby. I don't really have the money to buy a large enclosure but am wondering. Could I keep him in a very large Tupperware container? I mean like a really big one? I really want him but can't spend $200 bucks for the ladys cage. She just wants him to go to a good home. Please let me know soon if this is possible. I have seen breeders house snakes in small enclosures. Rack system. Would this work for a snake this size. Thanks for any advice!!!

how would you heat the large tupperware container mate ?

i would be scared ceramics melted parts of it and a heat mat would do nothing for ambient air temps

i keep all my carpets in 4x2x2ft tanks,but anything over 8ft i'd put in a 6x2x2ft tank

re feeding
i would up their food size,as there is no really visable feeding bulge there

cheers shaun

Re: What Type Of Carpet Python?

Well it fell through. So your thinking I should try Large Rats? I will get some and will see how it goes. Thanks
