Re: Chomper's new digs version 2.0
I just hope you can still say that when I figure out how to cobble the front and the door on.
I still wonder how I'm going to pull that off.
A simple box is easy, framing a door is a little trickier.

Re: Chomper's new digs version 2.0
you are using a shower door right? What about a heavy duty piano style hinge?
I am assuming you will have a foot or so of wood at the bottom to retain the dirt so the door would start at the top and go 2/3 down. you could then have the door open up or down.. up being easier of the 2. Drill through the frame of the door and use good bolts to connect it to the hinge...
Just an Idea

Re: Chomper's new digs version 2.0
That's a perfect idea, I have been toying with, but I need to cash some checks monday first.
I will probably frame everything else, put in the dirt so chomper can play.

Re: Chomper's new digs version 2.0
Don't get me started, I deposited one from a customer last week, spent money against it, and found out in todays mail it bounced.
A frigging accountant and they don't have overdraft protection???
Come on, these days everyone has overdraft protection.

Re: Chomper's new digs version 2.0
My bank pays the bad check, then comes after me to put the money in +30$
So now I get to go to see my customer on Monday and demand my $225 + the $60 extra it cost me to cover the 2 trips to home depot, AND the $10 fee they charged me for the returned check.

Re: Chomper's new digs version 2.0
Cool beans, Got the big check for the web site, the other customer paid the bounced check and all the fees, AND I got an emergency service call on Saturday, so my bank account is once again healthy.
Went to home depot today, picked up a bunch of nuts and bolts, washers, boards, and stuff, and went back to work....
I installed an outlet, so if I ever need to hook up inside, I can... It's way up, too high for Chomper to ever get at it.
The center light is on a conduit, so it cannot "wind chime" into the outside lights and shatter...

Looking good Wayne!! It's almost done. Chomper is going to be so happy
You could put outlet protectors on the outlet holes just to be extra safe.

Chomper's new cage / new pics (his Log)...
The front door just totally cheesed me off, I give up, I'm buying some aluminum and just getting it over with.
But I wanted Chomper to see his new digs, so I poured in some shallow dirt, set up his basking rock, and set him loose inside.
He refuses to leave, so I just screwed a sheet of plywood over the front for tonight.
Took a few pictures, he did several laps in there, ate, then decided to bask and digest.
Now he's sleeping in his favourite PVC pipe.
He ate a whole dozen night crawlers..
