Yeah ok a "Black Betty" scenario is rare but that potential still exists with Dums. I repeat what I said before and I do own both species. In your case, GarterPython, an IJ Carpet is probably the best choice.
I am still trying to think and think and think. I did want a Carpet Python at first and I still kind of want one. I am still gong to be watching reptiles canada because if a really cheap green tree python comes up I might have to snatch it. Anyway I was thinking that I also really like rat snakes and kings snakes. The one animal that I have liked for a long time is a chameleon also. I know some people say they are hard to keep but a while back I did my research and as long as you have all the supplies they are actually not that hard to maintain. Lastly and this is where the advice comes in. I love boa's. The only thing is they can't be any longer than mabye 5 and half feet, 6 feet. Also I would really like it if they weren't really heavily bodied. I know one option is a BRB but that would be really hard to maintain the humidity here in Alberta. Any suggestion's would be nice. If there is litterly no resonably priced boas that are within what I said just tell me because I need to know. Thanks for the help everybody. The reason I try and figure this stuff out early is because I like to do A LOT of research. I am not one of those people who do research for one week and then go out and buy it. Even though I do admit that if a good deal came up on say a GTP (because I resently fell in love with them) I would defitly jump on it. Not all of this is for sure yet either because my parents have a say in it but I know that now that I have a corn snake and they figured out that snakes aren't evil then they will be ok. And to alessia I don't owe that money to my parents anymore. I am now saving up.
Anybody got any ideas? I'm trying to think of a boa but they all seem to be really heavily bodied. If it is impossible in my price range to get one just tell me because I would like to figure this stuff out.
I do like rosy boas but I think they are pretty hard to find in Canada. Plus I kind of want something with the more classic boa look. Rosy boa definitily is another choice.
What about a Kenyan sand boa? My first python was my Jungle carpet python. She is my best snakes. You can never go wrong with a carpet python. Carpet Pythons will help you get ready for a Green Tree Python later on.

Just always remember, hydrants are for a greater purpose and every dog has it's day
A male BRB would work as they don't get over 5 to 6 feet. As for the humidity it's not as hard as some make it sound to keep up. As babies just keep it in a tote and it's super easy to keep the humidity up.
Seriously get a carpet. Its everything your looking for in a snake. Great looking, docile, not thick and not expensive.
Not sure if you have seen this?? Its my adult male. Almost 6' but not huge.
Can you see yourself with one of these?
I really like both. Terranaut is that an Irian Jay because if I get a carpet I would want an Irian Jaya. Also what about a Vera Cruz Boa. I saw them on another thread. They seem to stay small but I don't know how hard it is to find one in Canada and how much they are? Still got lots of time to think about it. My 2 main choices right now are either a Irian Jaya Carpet Python or some type of boa (if I can find one that is small enough and that is easy enough to find in Canada)
