Re: New Beardie enclosure

Beardies are LOVING their new homes. Both are more active, eating great. Saphira loves to dig and climb from her driftwood and basking tile. I upped the basking spot temp to 105 degrees and they seem to like it. Both are milky white underneath with no stress marks and just seem very content. My male is my "glass dancer". He likes to run along the front and wave his hands at me through the glass which drives my dog absolutely nuts! That's another thread altogether!! How to get my cocker spaniel to not hate my beardies!!! Uuugghhh!! She is very spoiled, but I've scolded her, tried the "spray her with a stream of water from a water bottle" technique my cat owner friends told me to try, and went so far as to spank her with a rolled up newspaper which I used on myself first and doesn't really hurt but I thought might get her attention. My enclosures are up on a tile and rod iron table but Katie can stand on her hind legs and see in the bottom cage. If they are out and I am holding them she is fine, has even slept on my lap while I held them, but when she hears them or sees them in the enclosure moving around she goes nuts....whining, jumping up at the enclosures, and shaking she wants at them so bad. Beardies seem to just ignore her but it is very annoying having to get onto her constantly. It's instinct for her to want to chase small game....birds, rabbits, squirrels.....they were bred for that after all, but man I'm hoping she gets used to Saphira and Bull soon!

I usually go to Petsmart over Petco if I run out of something and must go to the pet store. Everyone there is always very nice and have never looked at me funny if I had to buy a frozen rodent. They are super expensive though so I use Bushhill rodents for all my rodent needs and some other supplies. If I had to rely on pet stores everything, I couldn't afford it!! Also, I got a reptiglo in my temp tanks before I ordered the reptisun 10.0. Big mistake, for some reason it seemed to hurt Bull's eyes. He didn't open them a lot and didn't eat very well. As soon as I changed UVB, he was fine!!! Very weird and a big waste of money!!!

Re: New Beardie enclosure

My petco near me is horrible I will never shop there again (for reptile supplies anyway) for crickets it is 17 cents for one! they also are extremely rude there but the petsmart near me is great but still 10 cents for 1 cricket but they actually know how to take care of the animals! but I go to lllreptile because that is close to me and everyhting is super cheap and high quality and i love them

Re: New Beardie enclosure

Yeah.....I don't even deal with crickets....can't stand them. My beardies and geckos are on dubia....I order from a guy in Dallas and pay around .4¢ per roach. I order my worms from tastyworms and get my rodents from bushhill. I also try ro hit the reptile shows my suppliers vend at so I save shipping. Though I will pay shipping and get my rodents from bushhill rather than buy from anyone else If they aren't at a show I attend. vaccum sealed, very clean, never ever rotten and great prices!

Re: New Beardie enclosure

I pay .11 per cricket at PetSmart.
But lately I've been getting them at a nice little place for .13 (better quality and I like supporting them)
