Re: Who makes the best cages in Canada?

I was at allreptile a week ago and had a look at the pvc enclosures. They seemed "ok" at best. Just my opinion but considering you'll have it a while I would look at the ones they have their own snakes in. Or pvc cages that are a few years old. The black box part of the viv doesn't age but the one large boa there was pushing on the corner of the door and moving it quite a bit. The door latches are a bit mickey mouse as well. BUT they were on sale. I honnestly think the homemade vivs that people have made a diy for are just as good at half the cost. I will be building my next viv and I am not a carpenter. Just my $.02

Re: Who makes the best cages in Canada?

I agree with other posters as well that making your own is a great cost effective way to get what you want - unfortunately for carpentry ******** people like me it's not an option.
Vision cages are supposed to be amazing too from what I hear but that's another issue for Canadians. The cost of shipping is often more than the cost of the cage.

Re: Who makes the best cages in Canada?

I've built my own wood enclosures, and have had and am getting more enclosure's built by Greg West (aka Cornelsworld mentioned earlier). He builds custom racks and caging in various materials and does attend some of shows out east.

Re: Who makes the best cages in Canada?

you really dont need any skills to build a vivarium. dont sell yourself short before you have given it a shot. home depot will do all your cutting for $1 a cut, maybe cost ya $10 then you just drill a smaller hole than your screw so your wood dont slit on you, i mark all my holes prior to assembly, wink wink. line up the edges, i do it by eye, but less confident person could just use a square. now your cage is put together, add glue to your plastic glass sliders, clamp in place, once again lining up the edges with your eyes, now your have a complete cage for cheep. i would hate to see anyone not build one if they wanted just because they dont realize how easy it really is. sure a skilled person could make a furniture style show peice viv with panels and bells and whistles but You can can certainly build the ones on the site posted.

You are very right there Freebody. Anyone can do anything they put their mind to. But like you said someone with carpentry skills can make a show piece

I need something with at least the bells because this will be in the livingroom of my apt, so it's gotta function and be a little easy on the eyes. But thx. I know what direction I'll be heading.

Re: Who makes the best cages in Canada?

I can look into shipping for you as i build bell and whistle Viv's.
I'm in calgary so shipping shouldn't be to bad. I would need to know how you want to heat the viv and ect.
