Re: Freehandeling pro
LOL, alright! lets get to THAT point then. If he was AT ALL smart he would have researched everything and understood how to properly care for the animal first, not to mention know it would get huge and he'd need people to help him carry it around. that video was just 100% dumb to me. some fat hick dragging his big nice snake across the ground alone while his family was ranting at him. my point being, if he was smart, we never would have seen such a video lol.
i know it's wrong to judge people, but if you're going to do stupid **** and post it on youtube for the WORLD to see, EXPECT TO BE JUDGED lol.

Re: Freehandeling pro
I firmly believe that under normal circumstances when you acquire a pet its your job as the being that keeps the pet alive to first do your research and if you have questions, ask.
That being said for all we know he just got the snake as a rescue and has no idea what hes doing, assuming this its still really stupid to try and handle even a doll of a retic like that solo. One mistake and your out.

It's just the personality of your snake. Know it and accept it. My scrubs bite me repeatedly each and every time I handle them. Now, instead of bleeding I dress appropriately and don't bleed. I don't think I'd want them to be completely docile. They would not be the same snakes then.

it could be possible that he believes that he is handling the snake the right way, for all we know, he hasnt been shown how to do nor will he have any experience handling snakes what so ever and have done what is very common with people and went and bought the retic without the correct knowledge.
that sed is it really our place to judge the fact that hes handling it, i agree the way hes handling the snake is wrong and the fact and condition of the cage is wrong and so is puting it on youtube but theres no need to label the person as stupid, just inexperienced, he maybe puting the snake in the cage for safety reasons due to his daughter, again unless we know the full story, its wrong to judge

I disagree. Some people are just stupid. You can give them as much advice as you like again and again and again in many forms, on forums, chat rooms etc but a stupid person will ignore all the advice and do things their way.
Perfect example is the stupid person who was given lots of great advice before buying a boa then ignored the advice about quarentine and cross contanination and decided it would be funny to take a pic of his pet gecko climbing ontop of the boa then posts it on a public forum for all to see because he thinks its funny.
That person in my opinion IS stupid.

and in my opinion your ignorant, you cant just call somebody stupid, i mean you can but thats rude. You do not know if this guy has had no training for it, you cant even get on him because of that because the snake does look relatively healthy its just his handling habits that look bad. Do you know how many retics are sold as being a smaller snake then they get huge.
calling someone stupid for not being taught the right thing is ignorant. At least the snake is alive and he is taking care of it.
you dont even know if this guy has had advice or has been taught anything.
your rude

Erm, I wasn't talking about the guy in the video! I was talking about the stupid person who put their gecko ontop of their boa for a funny pic!!! That person has been taught alot by experienced snake owners so has no excuse.
You can think i am rude all you like but I'm not stupid so I can live with that, but again like I said, I wasn't talking about the video unless the man on that put a gecko in with the snake too then yes he would also be stupid.

If he has not been tought anything he is even more stupid, in this day and age there is information out there available for him to do his OWN research, Im pretty sure even nowadays we have things called books that also give information on snake keeping.
therefore even of the retic was sold as being small he would have known they get kinda big really.

yet again ignorance jeez. everybody screams about the internet not being a good place to get info but as soon as its convenient bam they should have at least used the net. how do you know that he didnt and he is now using the wrong information. that doesnt make him stupid it makes him ignorant also. and ive been to about 4 library's in my area not one carries an up to date book on snakes. one book sorry i dont remember the title or auther told me to keep my python in cool environment because it is cold blooded and doesnt like the warmth.
so all these broadened assumptions can stop. its one of my biggiest pet peeves

may be one of your biggest peeves but in reality dumbasses are dumbasses no matter how you sugar coat it.
the long and the short of it is he is not doing himself any favours in that video, you post something publicly you take the rough with the smooth and from what I watched not going very smoothly.

Re: Freehandeling pro
I agree with you that he was not doing much right in the video, and he wasnt doing a single favor for himself.

Re: Freehandeling pro
I was hoping to use this thread as a location to describe proper husbandry for snakes and give people useful information but it keeps deviating towards ranting.
If you are going to criticize I only ask that its productive, that you don't point any fingers and that you offer an alternative.
