Re: Pics Of Collection / Let's See Your Collection
Numbers of animals means nothing.. No contests there.
One animal receiving proper care is far more impressive than 100 animals receiving inadequate care.
I have encountered people who had too many snakes, no money for veterinary visits, whining about how much food costs, etc..
I have even seen where people with the best intentions "rescue" every lost soul they see and suddenly become "animal hoarders" and have more critters than they can provide proper care for.
My point is this, Don't be in a hurry to "build up an impressive collection", it may be fine with comic books and other inanimate objects, but living creatures require care, getting in over your head is very bad.

Re: Pics Of Collection / Let's See Your Collection
Can't agree more Wayne. We built our collection up very quickly, 9 reptiles in 4 months, and more by luck than by judgement stopped at that point. If we had many more i would have difficulty keeping up with the maintenance etc.
It would kill me to think that any of my animals suffered through my inability to care for them. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and we probably should have built our collection more slowly but as it is we have stopped at a level where all get the care they deserve. I can easily see how people can very quickly get in way over their head tho.

I agree it's never a good idea to have more animals than you can manage. This of course will depend on each individual's specific situation. For me, I am quite happy with my 3 reptiles, a cat, 2 gerbils and 2 fish. Plenty for me! Here are some pics:
Here's Leo my panther:
Drake, the Jackson's:

Last is Leto, my JCP which I've shared lots of pics here before:

Can't agree more. It has taken 7 years to get to this point, and for some specimens it was a long, but welcome wait. I've seen famlies torn apart by the need for the next morph, herps can be dangerously addicting.

Re: Pics Of Collection / Let's See Your Collection
Myself, I am very lucky, my whole family loves the snakes.
The kids are always bragging, and my sweetie helps out. She has her snakes and the Savannah Monitor (Chomper) I purchased for her on her birthday 3 years ago.
During the peak of baby season, I need her help with the feeding chores.
hundreds of baby snakes to feed can be more than one person could handle solo.
She does get a wee bit upset when I take on large batches of difficult starters (non feeders) from other breeders, since we already know there will be inevitable deaths, it tears her up to see it.
We never fight or argue about it otherwise.

That is truly a great thing; a happy family plus a happy reptilian family! My girlfriend loves snakes, so I am very lucky as well.
I still cannot fathom the endeavors you take on Wayne.

Marvelfreak, I don't have the flying snake anymore. Aaron, I will get on the Savu pics and start a new thread on them. My female has a really nice rusty background, but my male looks just like a mini Macklot's.
