African House Snakes! Any of the common North American Rat Snakes; Black Rat, Grey Rat, Yellow Rat, Corn Snakes, (though they may be a little jumpy as hatchlings). Mexican Black Kingsnakes are easy keepers also. Captive bred Garters if you don't mind switching them to mice can make good pets as well.
Thayeri kings... still my calmest and sweetest little guy, he's the one I let people see/hold first when they are afraid of snakes. No one is intimidated by this small, deliberate, gentle guy.
ATB's are easy to keep (fairly), but by far the easiest snake to keep in my opinion is the BP. The morphs do cost an arm and a leg, but you could get lucky by breeding two normals together and getting a little something special. If this were the case, all of your mentioned criteria is met.
