Yup, the extreme difference always throws me off when I'm trying to guess if he's starting a shed cycle or not. :/ Most of his pattern almost fades away in his light phase, and his tail looks like it WANTS to fade away. lol Then in his dark phase everything is dark, even his background color.

Re: Crona, Anery Motley
And the last photo. He was wrapped around my wrist like a bracelet until I got up and started walking back in. Then he started reaching out with his head and I held out my hand for him to crawl on.

Re: Crona, Anery Motley
He is so awesome! If we ever get a 3rd snake I want to go for something bigger than our kingsnakes...but I fear a boa might be "too big". But man it's really tempting when I see ones like yours!

Most Boa imperators stay manageable - even females rarely exceed much over 7-8' and are generally calm snakes as adults. Of course there are outliers in both size and temperament but they're very much the exception.
Love boas-my favourite snake I think.
Bag - she's looking good. Beautiful body tone but then you feed yours properly.

7'-8' isn't really all that big, but many people do feel that is too large for their tastes. In which case, there are plenty of dwarf localities to choose from that shouldn't reach, let alone exceed, 6'. Tarahumara, Crawl Cay, Nicaraguan, etc. They get about the length of a ball python but much thinner.
Thanks! This is actually one of my males, though. He's starting to chunk up like Nymeria did around this size, so I may expect a similar body tone as he matures, but he's still a wee guy yet so we'll see. I love how his colors are progressing.

Apologies to the snake .
It's nice when they start to fill out. I'll have to post some photos of Aunty Rachel. Her growth still surprised me. She's on a weaner rat every 3-5 weeks (I'm intentionally random between these points) and she's still growing like a weed.

Because of various things, like her shed cycle and a third freezer failure, I have yet to get Nymeria back on a 2 week schedule, but I swear she's also still growing. I haven't weighed her recently, but she was just under 470 grams last I weighed her iirc. She appears to have grown more in length since then as well. Crona's growing a bit slower, but being male that may be expected. Plus, he started out smaller than she did. She was 80 grams at only a month old and he was ~80 grams at 4 months old.
