Sup? I don't have a hot side for my black milk. They like it cool. He gets room temperature which is now around 73.if it's real cold at night I do turn on a 60 watt infrared light that keeps one end of his huge 10g tank around 80 degrees. I keep my other two kings and corn's hot side around 85 and cool side low 70's.

Looking good! MBK's have lots of personality! Did you get male or female?

I think it depends on what kind of milk/king it is. (Honduran, Mexican, pueblan, etc.)

Re: snakeweed

here is my mexican black king hopefully the spots go away as she gets older and it looks like she rubbed her nose trying to get out while she was shipped. the male i originally wanted did not work out but regardless im happy. she is definitely more docile than my milk snake

you can definitely see the spots more with the camera's flash but i love how the blue shines with the flash aswell

Re: snakeweed

this is how she looks without the flash. as you can see the speckled spots are barely noticable but they are there if you look close. the spots on the side are clearly visible..

she is also way more active in her tank than my milk snake. my milk snake will hide all day if he could. she could careless about whos in the room. she is out and about lol

Re: snakeweed

Thanks primal rage

Does anyone else think my mbk is a mbk/black milk cross? I emailed the seller and he said she was 100% but i have my doubts. He said the spots will go away 99% of the time and if shes crossed with a black milk i can see why hes so confident the spots will go away.

Congrats! She's one beautiful snake!! I agree, I think the seller mislead you. You can see the milk snake cross banding in a couple of pics. Definitely a keeper though!!

Re: Snakeweed & Ratking

I've seen lots of pictures of jevenile mbks with banding that goes away as they get older. If the seller owns black milks I guess its a possibility, but I wouldn't say it is guaranteed.

Just something to think about, Op: as you add to your collection, which I'm sure you will, make every effort to quarantine your snakes for at least 3 months before putting them in the same room. This means separate rooms, separate cage furnitire, feeding tongs, everything. It would be devastating if a new snake were to bring a pathigen into your collection, or if an older one gave something to new, higher end animal (since many ofnus twnd to 'trade up' as we add to our collections.).
Your snakes are very beautiful, it will be great to see them grow up.
