craap! i rescued a baby one from someone who was gonna throw him out on the side of the road, but i didnt think he would exceed 5 ft. *face palm*
and he's gorgeous! we had a female sun conure, but she passes about 1-2 months ago. she was severely disabled, both wings broken, feet broken, she had been attacked by the senagel. but she still lived for years. i guess she died of old age. she was sweet.
she was how my fiance got me to trust a bird, she couldnt bite hard.

glad you rescued a snake that was going to be ditched along a road. That is a terrible way to handle a pet that is not wanted so it is nice to always see someone take one in. lol I am sure you are not the first that has thought that about eastern rats. For the longest time i didn't realize that black racers got up to around 60 inches.
i am sorry t hear about your bird. I bet she was happy them years with you. im not sure i trust those type of birds with them sharp beaks lol give me a snake anyday lol

its funny, he's growing like a weed. within the two months we've had him, he's grown probably 5 inches. My little baby is growing up *tear* haha. he's almost as long as turbine, my texas, in length. but she's thick. when we got him, he was about 13 inches and very skinny. i want to say he's around 18-19 inches now, and im fattening him up. (;
i can't wait to order my gram scale so i can keep track of their weight.
i think i actually will be pretty happy if he reaches that 8 ft mark. i've always wanted a bigger snake, but not one thats so big it can kill me.

oh they grow up so fast don't they? Sounds like you are doing a wonderful job at keeping your snakes happy It would be interesting to see how much they weigh.
Then everything worked out great for you then although i must warn you as they get older the growing process does slow down a little so it will take some time to get to 8 foot lol

Re: smooth Green
It's all about personalities. some are outgoing and some are shy and don't like to be watched and just want to be in private lol Every snake is different then the next.
Your welcome I look forward to hearing the results

haha at first i named him something really stupid, i think it was like jose or billy or something really dumb. i wasnt planning on keeping him, so i didnt care. but then when i took him back to the house, i started to play with him, i looked at my fiance all puppy eyed and was like "baby, i need a fwend" so then i needed to give him a real name. and we had just watched the movie turbo, the one with the fast snail, and well.. he's fast, so we named him turbo.

Re: smooth Green
lol Turbo does seem to fit him much better then those other names. He will be very happy that you decided to keep him. Rat snakes can be a pretty rewarding pet to have

They're both great! he'll curl in my fingers and be stationary while im on the laptop or watching tv. and he'll stay like that for quite a while.
turbine on the other hand is just go go go go go. she will sometimes be stationary, but alot of the time she's on the move. expect in the enclosure, she'll tunnel.
turbo will tunnel but also cruise. which i love, bc i watch him when im tryinh to fall asleep.
im actually surprised he's still tunneled.

Re: smooth Green
wait to he is the size and curls up on your arm instead of finders lol it kinda gets heavy after awhile lol. Turbine sounds like my lizard just wants to run all over the place and explore places lol. I love to watch reptiles they are very entertaining just doing whatever comes natural to them.

Re: smooth Green
Thats awesome
That is not a dumb question but definitely debatable.
I don't believe they play favorites maybe he spooks her some reason
I'd love to her some other opinions on this question

point blank, she has to like me! haha, she was an early xmas present :P
hes terrified to hold her, he doesnt want to get bit.
she bit me i think once or maybe twice the day we got her.
she was in blue, so im going to assume she couldnt see. nor was she used to my scent.
it didnt hurt, actually, i barely felt it.
