Re: New arrival!! Apodora Papuana yearling!

Beautiful girl. I'm insanely jealous!
I'd love one of these but they aren't easy to source here (I know a few keepers with them but they aren't breeding age yet)
I've kept olives previously and keep other liasis now.

Are they similar to olives then in the fact they don't need to be fed as often? My Olive (liasis) only ate 4 times a year and I have a macklotts who fasts for 5 months of the year!

Have you managed to see the colour changes in her yet?

Re: New arrival!! Apodora Papuana yearling!

Thanks for all your nice comments guys.

She eats weekly but only about 5-7% of her bodyweight. She is still a youngster, but very slow growing. Yes her color change is beautiful and seems to associated with temperature. Much more observing to do on the color change, but sometime she is very green, sometimes a dark brownish, and other almost a mustard color. I do not have the camera or the skills to record these changes on film- for live observation only!

Thanks Millertime,
She is not terrible, but glade to hear they typically mellow with age. So hopefully in ten years I will have a mellow 12 foot snake!
