Pure Diamonds depending on where they are found "locally" in Australia have a wide variety of looks from almost solid black with small white rosettes to the high yellow ones with the washed out yellow where black would be & anything in between.
Diamonds like all "carpets" will naturally intergrade in the wild as well, Mark

edit - the one mentioned that could be a potential intergrade I would say the comment is based on how the "rosettes" are not really small/tight but large & almost band like in spots

thats exactley what i based my opinion on mark the rossettes.pure diamonds tend not have any banding freebody.on a diamond specialist forum the general concensus is the rossettes should be made up of no more than 10 scales.you do get pure diamonds who will break this rule from time to time.imo that would be 2 rossetttes tight together.whats pure and whats not is a very controversial subject amongst diamond keepers.its a huge bonus if the diamond you are after has a proven bloodline mate.i honestly put 2 years of research into diamonds before getting my non locale specific pure diamond.i was stung by a high diamond influenced diamond/jungle that was sold to me as a pure black and white diamond.it was my own fault as all i saw was oh im getting a diamond and had tunnel vision and only saw what i wanted to see i suppose.my advice would be to only buy a diamond from a reputable breeder such as mark.its the easiest way to make sure your getting exactley what you asked for.as mark says most opinions are based on the rossettes mate.
cheers shaun

Re: Opps I Did It Again! 2010 Diamonds!

i could see how getting a diamond would give a person tunnel vision :P they are in a legue of their own. I dont mean to sound stupid but the rosetts are the patch of 4 diamond grouped together right? and the port mac i have just stumbled onto has a similar look but with the stripes like what i see in the 2 pics i posted, or am i standing in left feild still lol ? touchy subject this pure diamond python deal from all the reading and pissing contest on different forum threads i have read on the subject of identifying.I seem kinda foolish me saying i like diamond pythons to look at one and say i like it and find out its not a diamond :P dont worry yall their is hope for me yet lol oh i would like to confirm that most of the time the offspring of morilias after the ugly ducking stage will turn out to be very similar to the parent, like if the parents are dark the offspring will be darker if the parent or real bright or golden the ofspring will most likely turn out that way as well dispite what their type ie,diamonds,coastals,jungles,jags... just in general morelia species ?

Re: Opps I Did It Again! 2010 Diamonds!

Its my understanding that a Port Mac is a Diamond/Coastal intergrade, Mark
