Re: A few pictures of my varanus sp collection
Hi, a handsome looking Tree goanna (Varanus varius)..... The enclosure is only temporary, the owner has a relatively large fish tank in the process of being furnished....
I hope Miss Aja Michelle will not comment just yet (Thanks, Aja)!

Yikes Stefan, thats a beautiful lace in appalling conditions. How is a fish tank going to cure that?!

Hi Josh,
I` m not sure what you mean? The monitor is only 115cm ToL just now, the tank is over 130cm L, he`s only been in there a few days.
As far as the fish tank, it`s 180cm plate glass which I`ve recently learned is great as far as insulation goes (doesn`t offer much in the way of "privacy", though).
Remember this is in Oz, so the conditions are pretty much natural as far as temps/humidity go.

Re: A few pictures of my varanus sp collection
Ah, sorry I suppose I shouldve deduced its in Oz, in which case it isnt so much appalling but just rather small. Looks like pretty tight quarters for such a wide ranging monitor!

Ha! I was looking at this on my phone. Is that actually just a statue? That would make more sense.

Hi, as far as I know, though I haven`t been in contact with the artist for some months, he is still doing this work. He was willing to do any species, the pieces are one-offs. I can give you details of how to contact him if you`re interested? He lives in Adelaide, South Aus, so the shipping will be quite expensive.
The Lace monitor piece weighs around 10kilos if I remember rightly, not sure if it`s been sold.

Isn`t it just brilliant though, you should see the Perentie he did and the Bearded dragons, you really cannot tell they aren`t real. He`s self taught, too. I thought I was good (in fact I was convinced), but he beats me by a mile (I only do wood carving). I asked Aja not to comment because I`d already told her about it some time ago!
If I`m not mistaken that was the first time he`d tried a monitor, even close up the detail is fantastic (it`s clay, though the log is real wood).

Hi, You don`t need much space for the Lace monitor, he`s extremely lazy, just sits there most of the time ......
