Out of curiosity, what do you house him in? Mine's in a 20 long, but I can't imagine I'd keep her in that if she ended up being that big.

same 20 gal long. its plenty of space for him. he's just under 10 inches. it isnt uncommon for a normal male to reach 10 inches. Its said that 10 gal is minimum for 1 adult, so i keep this guy in a 20 long. I used to have him in a 55 gallon for a year or so but he seemed to always just stay one side and either hide or tuck himself under the plant in the corner.

Yeah, I've heard too big can be detrimental. I know of people who keep them in 40 gallons with good luck. But it can depend on the gecko too. I know some people who have success with one gecko in a 40, then another one they try in a 40 and it freaks out.

Re: Post Leopard Geckos

There really isn't any such thing as "too large" of an enclosure if it's done right.

Re: Post Leopard Geckos

yea i agree. with enough foliage and cover it can be just as secure. but not necessary in my opinion

I dunno. I would be inclined to agree with you. I'm just going by what people told me.

Re: Post Leopard Geckos

I think a lot of the big cage myths got started by people who insist on handling their animals.

I bet a couple geckos would have a blast in an 8 foot cage, but good luck getting your hands on one in such a cage.....

I know of one person who moved their leo into a 'large' cage (30 or 40) and was very confused why it started acting weird. Turns out they had doubled the cage size but kept the exact same amount of cover and hides, so of course the thing got freaked out. I don't know if that's the case with all others, but I remember that one distinctly.

Their was one breeder a while ago that put a pair in a 5 foot (?) naturalistic setup and they did awesome. They even bred and started to overpopulate all by themselves. The breeder did nothing except feed them and eventually had to start removing animals once a year to allow for the new ones.
