Re: Green breeder
With prior "realtionship" that would lean me towards them.
Without the prior "relationship" i would go green

Building a good reputation takes time, energy and patience. Getting a bad reputation takes seconds

Re: Green breeder
Very well put, Rob.
I've been trying to build that trust all along. Hopefully I'm on the right track with that.

Re: Green breeder
A good reputation also takes a bit of projection. You need to be able to make them think you're successful. Trust me on that.

Going on this, regardless of being green or not, someone doesn't want to buy from someone who doesn't seem like they know what they are doing or have been doing for awhile. Confidence in everything.
If you want to go green and it's not too much trouble, go for it. I wouldn't use it as my main selling point to get across the consumer because ultimately, it's not producing a different animal.
Everyone is buying the person, not necessarily the animal. It's about trusting that if something happens then that person will be there for after care of down the line if hets don't prove or something.

Did you see a jump in your bill after adding snakes? Mine is only slightly lower than yours and I had to work to get it down there. My first bill after I moved into this house was 900 bucks, I almost threw up. I made a bunch of changes and now it stays around 3-350.

Re: Green breeder
I would buy from a green breeder if the quality of their animals were on par with other breeders.

Yeah we've slowly seen it increase with each addition.
Thanks BB!

Re: Green breeder
Along this same line, my wife had the idea to sell this product, a cleaner we have used for more things around the house than you can possibly imagine, trust me, and it's never let us down.
I can't find a list of the ingredients, but please, take a look and tell me if you would use this to maintain your reptiles.
Orange Magic | Natural and Environmentally Safe Cleaners!
Also, I think it's Kat who introduced us to Vermont Natural Sealer... Would you think of buying this from a reptile show, or online from a breeder (obviously at competitive prices)?

I don't need to click on the link to say no.
I personally use steam or a water/vinegar mix to clean anything. I add some elbow grease to everything and I'm golden.
Honestly, do you want to be a breeder or a goods dealer? Pick one. Work on it until it takes off. Don't spread yourself too thin.
Besides, if I saw a breeder hocking cleaners and sealers at the end of their table I'd walk away laughing. I've already done it to one. (He was selling bed linen though)

This^
If you decide to be a goods dealer, contact Vermont Naturals to see if they would work with you on selling and marketing it towards reptiles. ( if you haven't already) I bet they would be willing to work out a good deal.
As for the orange cleaner.. I wouldn't buy or use it.

Re: Green breeder
Kat and Aaron.
Thanks much for your candid opinions! That really put things into perspective. I am just trying to think of other ways (other than mind-blowing boas) to distinguish myself from all the other breeders. My boas will undoubtedly speak for themselves. What I'm trying to come up with is that one little "twist" to make sure that even if you didn't buy an animal from me at the last show, you've been talking about my Booth long after it's ended.

Who cares if their talking about products? You want them talking about the wicked cool boas for good prices at the table!
Besides, you have to realize that it'll be a long road to distinguish yourself from others. Hard work and consistent boas and customer service will win hands down. The service will be remembered when you encounter your first problem and how you deal with it.
Nobody makes their money in the first couple seasons anymore. It's the long road that will lead to success.
