Re: Newly redesigned viper room
Is there a requirement to let local emrgency servicdes know about your hots?
I know in the uk part of the DWA (dangerous wild animals) license requires local authoritys/police etc be notified and that they will inspect your premises randomly to confirm you are complying with thr terms of the license.

The lights mounted under the shelves are Xenon-type under cabinet puck lighting. I posted a link to them in one of my earlier posts. They do get warm, but not really hot like heat lamps would. The heating is provided by radiant heat panels and room thermics.

Re: Newly redesigned viper room
Rob there is no legal requirement in PA to inform local authorities of your animals. Some people choose to, others choose to keep it quiet. I have not told my local police of fire department, but I do have signs and would inform them in the event of an emergency where they needed to enter the house.

Re: Newly redesigned viper room
Looks like you're good with horizontal perches..
I was wondering how you keep the perch from rotating when your snakes climb on them.. I'm in the process of learning how to install a nice stable perch. (I use PVC enclosures) Any tips?..

Re: Newly redesigned viper room
Is that a Monsoon misting system? If it is, how do you like it?

However, in reality the signs are more for anyone who might be visiting. The door is locked, so no one is going to just wander into there, but if the lock were to break, or someone left the door unlocked, a sign warns visitors that there are venomous snakes inside. Realistically, in the event of a fire that would be hot enough to break cages, the snakes would be long dead inside said cages. Having only one functional lung, snakes are quite sensitive to air quality and would succumb to smoke and heat rapidly.

Thankyou for awnsering Kimberly ,much appreciated .

Re: Newly redesigned viper room
To MoreliAddict: I use PVC and closet pole hangers. I take the PVC, and run the cut length through an acetyline torch, bending and twisting it. It scorches the plastic, creating a rough texture with the look of brown wood. I then fit the ends to the holders and ever so slightly pinch the ends of the PVC so it's not perfectly round. Then it tends to not roll when the snake crawls on it.
The Hardware Hut - Product #BMI-1323W-20 - Bainbridge Plastic Closet Rod Supports - Accepts a 1-3/8 in. Rod (White)
Scorched PVC Perches
To Sssnakes: I have a small Monsoon system for my four eyelash vipers. It's ok...this is my second unit as the first one broke in 3 weeks. So far the replacement seems good, but if you are misting larger cages or more than just a few I'd go with a Mist King. I use Mist King for the Wagler's vipers and I used to it for the emeralds as well. Great system and well worth the money. I've never had a single problem with it in over 4 years.
