Re: Still not shedding
darlin Alberta is bad for low humidity, you DO need to go get a gauge to monitor that. It is most likely your problem.

Well, you don't know what the humidity levels are, and your snake isn't shedding. A humidity gauge would be the next logical step, don't you think?

Re: Still not shedding
Ok I will definitely do that... I have just heard so many times I didn't need one and didn't really think that the humidity in where you lived changed it

Re: Still not shedding
^^^^^^^ yes ^^^^^^^
well in most places its not so important with corns, here in BC I dont use them for my corns, but again, I've been where you live, and I felt the dryness in the air, had to constantly apply moisturizer and lip balm to stop my skin from cracking and bleeding, so definately very low humidity there.

Thats because a/c pulls the moisture out of the air. In the dead of winter we drop out to 20% here. Best solution is to run a humidifier in the room your snakes are in 24/7 if you suspect issues. This keeps it constant instead of bouncing from 20 to 90% when you mist.

Re: Still not shedding
see here, it rains 8-9 months of the year, so our humidity stays pretty high year round!

Re: Still not shedding
Our humidity inside is about 5% less than outside but it never drops below 50% inside our house.
Garter - i think you have been told not to worry about humidity with corns because of their natural range and hardiness but it does sound like you live in a particularly dry area so its worth taking the effort to ensure you keep the snakes humidity right

Re: Still not shedding
Thanks Shaun but really I shouldn't be cut any slack because I am a little bit younger... I still should have got it first thing when I figured out he was having shedding problems. I just heard so many times that humidity with corns doesn't matter if ou have a water dish and a humid hide that it stuck in my head. I almost lost my common sense in that way...

Re: Still not shedding
Dont beat yourself up too much, its a small, totally understandable error that you are now going to put right. Noone got hurt and you will never forget in the future
