Hi,
I really like my Canon Powershot A40.
Check Wal-Mart, they're really coming down in price ($397.00 Canadian, last time I looked).

Cheers!

the Fuji FinePix cameras take pics like this without any tweaking ... it was even taken through glass.

Lightbulb S40 nolonger, now S45

S40 is no longer available, it's now the S45, and much faster for recording time, still an excellent price, canadian retail is about $799.99 for the kit from Canon and Compact Flash cards dropped in price last week, really good deals on larger cards right now.

Personally I use a Canon D30 DSLR but that's a huge expense and a really big learning curve for a first camera...wouldn't suggest it.....

I'm using the same thing as Simon, the Canon Powershot A40. I love it! I find it to be very user-friendly and takes great pics. It records sound, takes videos as well. I don't know about all the technical stuff so I can't tell you about the other features and what they mean It starts at $399+.

Here are a few shots...

i have a nikon coolpix 2500 that i purchased for $249. it's undoubtedly the best camera i've owned. Many features including an awesome close-up mode and its small size make it a nice little gadget.

Here's a sample pic I took in close-up mode..

hope this helped....chris

one of the things i like most is that it saves to CDRWs

Well guys last night I went to Wal-Mart and bought myself a nifty little thing that suuposed to have Macro. I get home and it's a POS! Of course I paid $50.00 for it (you get what you paid for) so I'm returning it today. I really like the coolpix camara and will try to get that one instead... I took this test pic of Girl... you can really tell how crappy it is by this pic!

Thanks, as for how much the cd-300 runs new, I'm not sure, it's been replaced with the CD-250 (2 megapixal) and CD-400 (4 megapixal) I've seen the CD-400 for 1200 canadian (probably 800 US) new.

One nice camera I'd love to have is the Canon D-60 (2k US), it can take the lenses off a regular cannon SLR so you can get some pretty sweet optics that are hard to beat.
