Re: moving across country

Okay well shaun the pillow case thing is not going to work as I am also traveling with my dog. I think I am just going to do the sterilite container on a pillow with a towel to keep the sun off of it.

Re: moving across country

Ohhh makes a move more interesting to move with different pets when I moved from California to Iowa had my cat he rode in the plane with us I couldnt imagine having to make a long trip with all my snakes and enclosures that would be to much I would have to rent a Uhaul trailer just to haul all of their stuff lol

Re: moving across country

Soon ( I hope) I will be moving with all my pets.. 5 snakes, a lizard, 4 birds , 3 dogs, 1 husband and 1 child.

It will be tough but all 5 snakes will go into pillow cases for the car time. I will ave mini vivs set up with heat sources for night time. I think placing the snakes in a pillow case is the best idea.. then place the pillow cases in a tub to keep them from rolling around.

Moving is fun! lol

Yeah I can relate. I moved all 18 of my snakes I had at the time in my Kia with all their enclosuresplus 4 snakes that belonged to Rmf. It took 4 trips to do it and thank goodness this move was only a few miles away. As it is it took all day to move them and set them up. @ OP.. I would make sure it is plenty warm in the cab. You dont need heat as long as the ambient temps are in the 80s in the cab.

Good luck with your move.

I agree, pillow cases are the best way. That way they dont freak out at fast moving shadows.

imo,you need to make sure the snakes,NOT sliding around inside what ever type of container you use

imo,its best to use the smallest container it will fit in,packed with shredded newspaper

the dog won't be in the front passenger foot well, will it ? the place where the humans feet go,thats where i put mine in a pillow case, while travelling

that way the snakes not sliding around inside a box/plastic container

cheers shaun

And this is why I shouldn't get any more reptiles until I'm settled haha. 3 snakes is plenty haha

Re: moving across country

When is your moving day? Are you going east or west? Not trying to be nosey just curious to think ahead about weather with Issac taking its toll out east travel maybe difficult and not possible on many chunks of interstates alot are closed now in the southern states! Also are you going to be stopping in motels for the night? you might want to invest in a human heating pad as mentioned in an earlier post. Hotels are usually pretty chilly temps for snakes! Also dont mention to hotel staff about your slithery friend might scare the crap out of housekeeping. LOL that would be funny good luck take some pics of your friend once he is settled and happy in your new home!
