I hope it is a green snake because they are the only snakes I know of that are completely insectivorious.

The fact that it sounds like its already eating crickets makes it sound like a case of misidentification.

My king would eat anything that moved. I could see a baby king eating crickets. Can't see it living long but yeah. If you had a big enough cricket ,my goini would put it back.
I think the op has i.d'd the snake wrong but if it is a king I hope he buys some rats.
