Re: My carpet pythons
Do jungle jags have the same neuro issues that regular coastal jags have?

Jags are jags buddy, so absolutely. Visible neurological symptoms are not guaranteed in jags but many have them. I'm not a fan of jags. They look pretty, but it's like having a baby you know will have Down syndrome because you like the look of kids with big heads. It's clearly a deleterious allele, and it says something ababout the reptile trade that breeding this gene is so poopular. I know I'm a minority on this issue.

Re: My carpet pythons
The percentage of Jags with nero issues is very small. Some research has linked the onset if nero issues with the use of mite treatment chemicals. Most that have it are 99% normal and will only show signs when severely stressed. The reason it is easy to find videos on youtube of the bad cases is just that. They are bad so people post video. My jag is 100% ok. When I first got him I thought he had a touch of this but later realized he was just 100% focusing on my hand and not his head angle. But he is fine. Looks great and if friends want his offspring down the road I will breed him.

Re: My carpet pythons
the jag neuro issues came up,over on a morelia dedicated website.....
members were asked...
out of ALL the jags they owned and produced, how many showed neurological issues
the thread came to the conclusion, that it was a low number, around 5% to 10% of ALL jags had an issue
i have only ever had 2 of my jags show mild signs of neuro issues (slight head wobbles, when they got excited)
cheers shaun

Re: My carpet pythons
I asked two breeders about this at the White Plains show today, one of them being Jason Baylin. Both said the same thing: Only snakes that show the Jag morph are the ones with the neuro issues. If a snake is bred to a Jag, but a specific baby does not display the Jag colors/pattern, there shouldn't be any neuro issue. It is directly related to way the animal looks. Again, these aren't my words and I'm paraphrasing, but it makes sense to me.
