It's was his landlord who called in the complaint. They dad no choice to fallow up.

I just spent 10 min on the phone with the Humane Society who is both the people you have to register your snakes with and who enforces the related bylaws. If you register your snakes before any complaints are made they will not remove your snake. But a complaint for a non registered snake = seizure. The woman I spoke with was very snake savy and knew the answers to my questions right away. In Kitchener you can legaly own a registered boa were her exact words. She advised you even register corn snakes to avoid any legal issues of any kind. Which I thought was funny.

I called from my cell and asked about purchasing a boa from a local store that sells them. She seemed quite safe telling me to buy it then register it with her.
She even went so far as to tell me if its registered and they change the law we would be grandfathered in and could even sell iur snake localy with the registration if we wanted. She almost sounded like a herper her self.

When I registered mine years ago, I registered them all (yes, even my Corn Snake, lol). To be honest, I actually registered a few I didn't have yet while I was at it because I did have designs on them in the future, so when you do register yours, it might be wise to add a fictitious mate for the odd snake you have now, just in case. Oh, and don't forget...you did *not* hear that from me <polishes halo>

Interesting laws. I still think one of the most messed up ones are in Louisiana. Any (non venomous) snake that will reach 10' or more (although all boa constrictors are listed), you must have a permit for each animal plus you can always be inspected to make sure you have proper housing required by the state. However, you don't have to get a permit until the animal reaches the mandatory length. It does nothing to stop someone from getting a snake that can reach and exceed 10' and letting it go before reaching the mandatory length. IMHO, if you have to get permits for your animals, you should be able to before or right after purchasing one...not wait until it gets to a possible uncontrollable length for someone who has no experience with bigger animals.
