I haven't had Slivovitz since I was a teenager at the Croatian club playing in a eucher (sp?) tournament with my neighbor. What's the traditional toast? "yastravia"? It always sounded like "nice driveway" to me. hehehe

In czech it's "Na Zdravi" which pretty much mean "to good health" I'm not sure what the Croatian is but I think it's "zivjeli"

Re: Tequila Zeus!
"Na Zdravi" is it for sure. It definitely sounds like "nice driveway" when shouted by a bunch of drunken guys. I'm not sure about the actual nationality of the club to be honest. First it was 20+ years ago and honestly it was mainly a club people joined to go play cards, smoke cigarettes and drink moreso than a cultural thing. I had fun the few times I went there.

Lol, when I was like 15 maybe 16 my buddies parents took us to rocky point Mexico, his mom bought us a huge bottle of tequila ( the bottle had absolutely no name on it) and we had nothing to mix it with cept pepsi. We dumped the entire bottle into a big gulp cup and poured in the pepsi. He took a single gulp and made a hilarious face and said " that's terrible, you can have it" so I took a few big gulps, made a terrible face but took a few more gulps. I finished it over the course of a few hours and each gulp got a Little less worse then the other. Well we decided to go walk around and check out the rest of the city and we ended up in this awesome little resturaunt, and I met this girl who was also from the states on vacation ( I'm very very intoxicated at this point) and before I even got done telling her where I was from I'd thrown up ALL OVER her... The waiters walked up and made us leave, my buddies parents were very embarrassed as well. We were headed home later that day and I spent the entire trip with my head hanging out of the back window throwing up the entire time. The next day I had the most god awful taste in my mouth and no matter what I did I couldn't shake it. It was the worst drinking experience I'd ever had and I blame it on lady tequila lol...

Re: Tequila Zeus!
This has nothing to do with anything but language. My favorite foreign saying is doi tashi maste (you're welcome) because it sounds like "don't touch my moustache".

Re: Tequila Zeus!
Too funny.
Tequila is a harsh mistress that demands respect. I myself once rode a mechanical bull because of the stuff. I remember doing it, but not why. Then I remember being in the bathroom trying to get the sand out of my pants. The bull had been set up on the outdoor volleyball court. They had mattresses to land on but they were covered in sand by the time I got on it. Ah to be young and invulnerable again.
My wife's cousin Andrew got um...serviced by our golden retriever one night he'd been drinking tequila. The dog looked at us and when nobody told him "No" he went to town. To this day Becky demands pick of the litter when she sees Andrew.

Re: Tequila Zeus!
Wow.... that second story is umm... awkward. The first is pretty classic, though.

Re: Tequila Zeus!
Well, not really "serviced". But the attempt was made. The rule with the dog was he couldn't hump anything higher than him in the pecking order. That night Andrew slipped considerably down the ladder. hehehe
