I have a green bottle blue. I've only seen it like... six times, though. Haha.

Hubby definitely knows more about the tarantulas than I, but if you ask me I will forward the questions to him.

Mine just hides all the time. I haven't seen it to know if it's edgy.

I'm hopeing when I get my corn next week my breeder is looking for a green bottle blue for me can you take a pic or two of your green bottle blue if it ever leaves it hide

We've actually had bad luck with our green bottle blues. Hubby's first one grew up, and lived for a couple years, and then we moved it to our townhouse, where we think it got too cold, and died. We had a baby, that died, and we have another baby now. Started off as a sling, and has molted a couple times. We have trouble with heat and humidity. We weren't going to get another one, but at the last reptile show it was in the check out line on sale and hubby couldn't resist! lol

Aww I'm not no were near spider expert but arnt spiders like hardy inverts and if I ever find someone selling a green bottle blue ill get it but there's like no reptile shows here like never

Spiders actually need high humidity to survive and the big tarantulas dropped from as little as a couple of feet can burst like a balloon.So not as tough as most people think.

Nice inverts BB. How long have you had the Amblypygid?

I have to agree with Trent, I don't think yours is a Mexican Red Knee (B. smithii) -- the coloration is wrong.

@Apex: There's a reason B. smithii are used so often in the movies -- they rarely try to bite, are slow moving, and get relatively large. Biggest issue is the hairs they may kick off. Some folks get extremely itchy from them.

Chromatopelma cyanopubens (GBB), keep in mind, are not T's to handle. The venom is no big deal, and they are unlikely to bite, BUT they tend to be major hair flickers (and many folks find that the hairs REALLY make them itch) and the buggers are fast. As the result of the latter, therefore there is a greater chance that if you are hold a Cc and something spooks it (and it often doesn't take much), the T may bolt and wind up falling to its death. Being soft bodied, unlike a roach or many insects, it doesn't take much of a fall to kill a T.

Btw, proper term is defensive not aggressive.

Have to disagree with Trent's blanket statement about humidity. Yes some true spiders do need high humidity but many do not -- same goes for Ts. T's from arid regions can die from too much humidity. My G. rosea (rose hair) for example is kept very dry. A small waterdish is her only water source. Her enclosure humidity is the same as the rest of my apt -- which currently has an RH of about 25-30%. Cc's, as adults, are also T's for arid enclosures though perhaps a bit less so than G. rosea.

Jaylee, as slings, Cc's do generally require a bit more humidity and water than they will as adults. I water my baby by squirting some droplets of water onto its webbing a couple of times a week.
