I'm glad you all enjoyed the pictures. I have some other newts as well, 4 fire-bellied newts and a dusky salamander (I already posted pictures of my tiger salamander). These other salamanders are much harder to photograph. The fire-bellieds are so small and the dusky never comes out during the day. He hides under an aquarium pump. Sometimes he disappears for days and I don't even know if he is still alive.
I guess I like newts and salamanders. They are quiet, harmless, shy and are interesting to look at.

Yes, they are emperor newts. There are different subspecies of emperor newts. One of them, the Shanjing - has a completely orange head. Mine are Kweichow - black heads.
