it could be because every other handler does things slightly differently and there's if not a level of trust, at least a level of comfort with a familiar being, that the snake has with that particular keeper.

IF what you say is true, then I'm assuming its either word of mouth and your friend lied, or this animal is incredibly sick.
From a husbandry point of view, keeping a snake in bed with you (long term) is idiotic at best, you can't hope to maintain a stable temperature/humidity in the average house, unless of course your friend has her bed set up in the snakes enclosure...

Obviously the snake is not free roaming at is only out at night. I actually don't agree with her and think it's really stupid myself. I would never let a snake of that size sleep with me. Even unintentionally it could kill you in your sleep just with it's weight. I guess love is a little too far but trust can definitely be there.

Re: Who says snakes can't love!
This whole "sleeping with a giant snake" thing is making me think of that Animal Planet show "Fatal Attractions"

What I'm saying is, I can't imagine a burmese python lasting long in that type of environment... They are REALLY sensitive to temperature and humidity.

First number is males, second is females (if there is a third number then it is eggs/unsexed animals)

I think you're interpreting "0.2 cats" to mean I have one fourth of a cat
The positioning of the dots is as follows:
male.female.unsexed
so I have 2.0 ball pythons: both male
0.2 cats: 2 female cats
Get it?

I was not talking to you, but yes that might be the case. Not all snake owners are smart/educated "handlers."
#1. Any responsible keeper will Limit handling any large reptile, unless needed.
Again as you can clearly see just because someone has a snake does not give them the title as a responsible snake keeper, it's earned.
By letting your snake sleep with you, or even housing 2 solitary animals is infact animal cruelty, and you and your friend should have your animals taken away and receive a fine.
