Horrible, the worst that could happen is they don't hatch. That led me to another thought. Could I feed them so my Monitor?? (Nott the live ones)

Re: Jungle Laid

what i meant by horrible was i believe some rotted and they got some kind of insects flying all around the eggs and i belive they had 0 that lived if i remember correctly.

but yea....if they don't.....monitor food! lol
i can't decide if that's sick or funny....maybe both O.O

Re: Jungle Laid

They would make good monitor food. I'm not sure about feeding rotten eggs to him though, but with fresh slugs go for it!!
I have maternally incubated twice with retics and once with olive pythons and had a 70% hatch rate with all 3, and I know a few people on other forums that do it aswel.

you can use things like atheletes foot powder to slow the rate of mould growth or sometimes dry it out completely.

thats in an incubator i think the powder would be HAMFULL TO MUM though

i've e mailed a couple of my carpet mentors to see if they can give some advice

cheers shaun
If you can get in without bugging the mom, and the egg is starting to go bad, there is always the option of using a syringe to drain the egg so you don't risk tearing an egg. If an egg does tear use a bandaid. It works!
A little mold wont kill the eggs around it, but lots might.

Re: Jungle Laid

Well the bad egg took a 4 foot drop onto the bottom of the viv, She must have either went down there and laid another or ....I'm baffled considering she is in an egg box ? She would have had to carry it out there is NO way the egg could have fallen out. I'll upload some pics tomorrow.

Re: Jungle Laid

Moms are good at getting rid of bad eggs, its not uncommon for them to remove bad eggs from the egg box.
