My hybrids were very much wanted!

There are some stunning hybrids out there.

Some stunning ones here:

Uk-Hybrids - The home of exceptional captive bred Colubrids - Uk-Hybrids

Re: breeding my snakes

We already selectively breed snakes to get the best morphs, best colouring etc etc so the snakes that are mating may not have ever got together in the wild - the same can be said of hybrids.

AS LONG AS the babies are ALWAYS remarked on as hybrids and never disguised as anything else then personally i cant see the problem.

Would i own one - probably not but then i probably eouldnt own a BP morph either

While some of the hybrids produced are nice, problem is, your promoting people somewhat new into the hobby to start producing ridiculous crosses that have no reason to exist. The general public does not want hybrids, they want morphs of a single species.

Not even remotely the same. There's a difference between improving the genetic line of a species, and completely bastardizing 2 species just for the fun of it. It's not accepted well in the hobby by the vast majority of keepers.

It'd be hard to not spot such a cross, and in all honesty, they would be worth very little, be full of genetic problems, and not a good thing for either snake.

Re: breeding my snakes

Though not personally a fan of hybrids, I can understand the appeal of crossing a snake from the same genus and geographical location, for example 2 North American Rat Snakes, as some are quite stunning. But what I don't get is trying to cross snakes who would never have any possibility of meeting or mating in the wild, especially those that have different husbandry requirements. Just my 2 cents on the whole cross-breeding discussion.

We shall agree to disagree. I own 2 hybrids. I am breeding them next year and I already have quite a few people who want one of the hatchlings!

Re: breeding my snakes

I'm not going to tell anyone what to do but I tend to call them Barpets instead of Carpalls. Barpets sounds so silly that i could never bring myself to want to own one haha. Desired Effect.

Hopefully, zero.
