Re: ant bite on purpose (video)
*shudders* i HATE when bugs walk on me. but if they hold still everything is good.
at my cottage 2 of my neighbours study bugs and reptiles so my sister and i always go to hold them and see them and learn about them. My sister even got into a magazine holding one of the caterpillars. if i can find a picture of the caterpillar I'll attach it

Re: ant bite on purpose (video)
When I stayed in Brasil the roaches were as big as my breeder Dubia, geckos are welcome to free roam the houses, and it was a common occurrence to be sitting at the table and see a decent size gecko run up the wall with a big insect in it's mouth.
It's nothing really once you get over the "heebie jeebies" many people get bothered by insects in the woods, we spend all summer back in our forest. I quit letting insects "bug" me a long time ago.

Re: ant bite on purpose (video)
I never understood what was wrong with roaches, i mean people don't like them because they eat rubbish but half the bugs out there do.

Re: ant bite on purpose (video)
Of all the varied species of roaches, I think it's something like only 4 that are pests.
A colony of big tropical roaches is fascinating to watch..

Wayne, don't you breed or didn't you used to breed roaches? Would you be able to post a picture here just so I can see what it's like?

Re: ant bite on purpose (video)
When the dude started crying after getting bit and stung, I thought..."serves you right."
Here's a male and female of my Roaches. I can't get a family portrait cause they scatter when I turn the light on. They're pretty cool, I think, but chicks tend to think they're gross.

Re: ant bite on purpose (video)
They are sweet the only thing that still gets me is when the light goes on and they scatter making that roach "scratchy" noise. I can handle them dig through their dirt etc with mo probs but that noise goes right through me.

aha yes, been there done that, cept it was the neighbours shed housing the skunks and we have 2 dogs. dad got home from his afternoon shift (around 1am) and lets the dogs out. trying to get skunk smell out of two dogs in the wee hours of the morning is not very fun.
Rob, I know exactly what you're talking about when you mention the sound!
Wow, they don't look tooooooo bad, so long as I wasn't covered in them and they were holding still :P ahah i know, if you know that the bite/sting will hurt and you still choose to do it then sorry, i don't think i'll be sympathizing for you

Re: ant bite on purpose (video)
They're so neat looking... they kind of remind me of other smaller bugs but magnified, just like bigger versions of them. they're pretty cool.
We used to breed/keep crickets... they smelled way too much so it didn't last long

Re: ant bite on purpose (video)
I have a problem with what I call the "ninja species." They will be chillin all " Oh hai!" on your shoulder and you would never know. Bothers me. My capture strategy includes a bit of cardboard and a pint glass. Catch them. Throw it outside and that glass be damned till morning haha.
