Re: snakes intelligence

I guess my thoughts are, it doesn't really matter to me how intelligent snakes are. They seem to be all action/reaction, and I am okay with that. They do seem to adjust to their environments, cage conditions, feeding, handling etc. But that could be biological. A snake may lack the enlarged cerebral hemispheres, that control the ability to learn, but who's to say that a snakes brain is not wired differently than a human, or mammal, or birds brain? Like I said, only the snake knows, and he ain't talking.

Re: snakes intelligence

As for the seeing in color thing isn't there a way to dissect the eyes in order to tell what kind of color or non color an individual can see? How can we tell that any animal can see in color like cats and dogs? But somehow we know that cats can see mostly greens. I forget about dog vision.

And I have recently read that Hognose snakes are a mostly sight based/orientated snake. Sure they use their scent, but they do use their eyes to hunt with. That is why hognose can be so put off by f/t food...no movement. Read that as well when my hognose before this one wouldn't eat f/t food.
