Not sure, amd its pretty late here, but i think rat snakes are asian and corn snakes american but are from the ssme genus? Forgive my drug addled brain if iam talking tripe!

yes, you are correct, have seen corns identified as red rat snakes

I wouldn't necessarily say it's correct to call them "red rat snakes" just because someone has identified them as such. I can call a burmese python an african rock python and it doesn't make it right.
Use the latin name Emilie. No one gets confused that way. I won't get into how I've read that apparently it's not 100% official of the genus switch to pantherophis.
Rob, I'll excuse you're drug addled brain but not all rat snakes are asian. We have the black rat snake here in Canada and we're not an Asian country :P

Thanks Aaron, when i read it the following day i was even more unsure that it was right - thats why i always put if i am not sure - wouldn't want someone using info that i have given when i am potentially wrong.
