Re: Post Your Milk,Corn or King Snakes Here.
This is my new Honduran Milksnake, Echidna (after the woman/snake deity in Greek mythology) . She's a Hep. Albino with possible snow, but I don't plan on breeding so it kinda doesn't matter. She looks like a pretzel in the photo.

Re: Post Your Milk,Corn or King Snakes Here.
Suite she does i am really pissed my mother just told me that I am not allowed any snakes. I was really looking forward to my corn or milk. I still will bother her. I say if all goes wrong keep trying until it goes ur way. I will keep trying on her.
I dont know why my mother and my Dad hate snakes. Its not responsibility because they said I could get a lizard just ont a snake. I have no idea why because with lizards first of all u have to feed them alot and second of all the lizards have to eat crickets. Crickets are very loud but with frozen mice they cant escape and they dont make noise. I even said she didnt have to touch the thing or do anything. I even told her I would buy a mini freezer so I didnt have to put the mice in the family freezer but she still said no.
So I am really Pissed. Sorry for the long post. I am just really mad.

Don't be angry. Look at it as a challenge and an opportunity to educate them. Snakes are usually easier to take care of than a lizard. If you have a pet store that is close you can just buy live or fresh kill or even frozen from them and not have to have a freezer full of ded things, I am sure a mom doesn't like the idea of that.

Yea but we live in a small town we have no pet store, we would have to drive 15 minutes every day for mice.

Re: Post Your Milk,Corn or King Snakes Here.
firstly, why would you go everyday, the snake only has to eat one good size meal a week, secondly 15 minutes is not long at all!! personally i would just wait till your mom and dad are comfortable in letting you have a snake, good things come when you wait!!

Yeah but when I tell them about snakes they just say "Your not getting a snake. Stop obsessing." They dont care.
and oh ya We would just have to go every week. Good idea.
I went from a no to her either ignoring me or changing the subject and when your talking about my mom that meaans she is actually starting to think about it. If I keep this up shell let me get one by the end of March.

Re: Post Your Milk,Corn or King Snakes Here.
A stunning collection as always, Derek.~
And Molson, I've wanted a snake since I was 4 or 5... and I finally got one, now that I'm 19. You may be in for a long wait.
What I did, is I talked to her about snakes randomly. Chit chat about stuff then she'd say something and I'd just randomly pop up snakes and how misunderstood they are. If she'd say,"but they're gross, slimey, and blablabla." I'd use my knowledge to wrong her of anything she said. "They bite." "If they bite it's probably your fault. Don't pick them up anywhere below 6 inches behind their head, don't hold their head, don't get nervous/scared when you go to pick them up and keep retracting your hand, try not to smell like food, don't hold them 1 - 2 days prior and after feeding, and, of course, don't do anything to hurt them or make them mad." The only bite you really can't help is a feeding response. To best avoid that, tongs would be good. I personally use myself.. LOL Just dangle the mouse by the tail over the snake. And, yes, I do expect to be bitten because of this, but eh. I'm cool with it. I may use tongs for my hognose, though.. Me and her would also frequent Petsmart, and every time I'd have to run up to the Reptile section and eye the snakes. Besides, the snake stays in my room. She rarely goes into my room, so it really shouldn't matter to her.
At any rate, just educate yourself as best as you can, and show them that you know what you're doing.
