Re: New Black Racer Pics!!
took some pics, sorry, through the glass, only 2 were even worth looking at. Toby is crazy long now, easily 4 foot or more.. (Impossible to measure such a flighty snake)

Re: New Black Racer Pics!!
Are black racers common captives? I haven't really seen any for sale locally.

Not really common, they are mean, nasty snakes. Compound that with they are primarily lizard eaters that require "training" to get them onto rodents.
Toby ate nothing but Anoles for the first few months I had him.
I have had mine for a few years now, and I cannot even pick him up unless he's got a mouse in his mouth at the time.

Was he a wild caught or captive bred?

I actually think it's really cool.. Most of my snakes are biters, makes a great reason to leave them alone.

Re: New Black Racer Pics!!
Great looking snake. I love Black Racers, but currently do not have one in my collection. I'll have to see if I can locate one, now that you have stimulated my interest in them again.

Re: New Black Racer Pics!!
Ill never get tired of racers. They're probably 40% of what I catch around here and never get boring to see in the wild. I can only imagine they're a blast in captivity other then the special care to start them on rodents. How big is he Wayne? I see some HUGE racers around here; bigger then I thought they got.
