high snakelovers, i have always played w/ snakes and used 2 keep them 4 pets when I was a child. the large amount of wild snake that r starting 2 invade our country scares me. I don't want 2 kill these snakes, but I think they need 2 be monitored and possibly moved? take care folks (: hit me back, or knot?

Cresteds certainly are addictive. I'm breeding a couple groups this year and I'm super excited for hatchlings!
Unfortunatley that girl has lost some weight over the last couple days, so I'm seperating her as she is currently housed with another female who I think is hoarding all the food lol. I was planning to breed them both this year but I think Hookah will either have a short, later season, or I'll breed her next year if I'm not comfortable with her weight. Too bad because I was going to have a KILLER harley pinstripe trio.
I like how soft they are, first time I help one I was really surprised. I'm picking up a gargoyle gecko this weekend too so I'll grab some updated Rhac shots for ya

Gargoyle geckos always look like they sick to me maybe im just not used to their shape, or i have only seen skinny ones by the expos. Please do post some photos, is there anything significant about them that you want one? I think its the cresteds eyelashes that make them so attractive, they remind me of those old disney cartoons where the lady characters had such long eyelashes they flutter slowly to look cute.

I think gargs look really cool, and I love some of the colours and patterns they have. There isn't a HUGE amount of variation really (there are greys, blacks, reds and oranges; stripes, super stripes, blotched, and reticulated) but some of them are truly drop dead goreous. I'll actually grab some shots of the garg setup Northern Gecko always has and you'll get to see some beauties. I want to breed them in future too, baby gargs prety much take the cake for cute hatchlings...next to Chahoua, of course

Yes, but the common names here are different.

Crested gecko - Rhacodactylus ciliatus
Gargoyle gecko - Rhacodactylus auriculatus
Chahoua/Mossy Prehensile Tail gecko - Rhacodactylus chahoua (which is what I assume "Bavay's Giant Gecko" is)
Leachie/New Caledonian Giant Gecko - Rhacodactylus leachianus
Sara - Rhacodactylus sarasinorum (which is what I assume "Roux's Giant Gecko" is)
Trachy[pronounced "tray-key"]/Rough snouted gecko - Rhacodactylus trachyrhynchus

Cresties and gargs are very common in the pet trade. Chahoua are gaining, as well as leachianus, but they are expensive animals. Saras are quite rare, but attainable, and Trachies are very, very rare, and very, very expensive. They also bear live young! How cool is that?

There are subspecies of both leachianus and trachyrhynchus, (3 for leachies and 2 for trachies I believe), as well as localities for leachies & chewies, which refers to where the specific group of similiar animals is found. Locals are not the same as subspecies. With chahoua, for example, there are two locals; Pine Island and Mainland. Pine Island chewies generally are a bit larger with more colour and pattern than the mainland specimens. Leachies have a bunch of locales and I can't remember them all. It's even thought that cresteds orginally came from two locals, although when they were originally brought into the States from New Caledonia, the shipment was only a few hundred geckos, and since they all eventually got mixed up and bred, you can't really tell with captive cresteds. Export from New Caledonia is illegal I believe, and many of the islands are protected, so not much is really being done to find out. I think it's pretty interesting. The differences in the various locales can be so drastic but still look like the next one, or the one after that.

No u didnt bore me at all i knew none of this. I cant put any images to the names though, i downloaded a few pics but i cant really compare them to each other. Your Crestie and Leachie pics about the best, if u have any pictures of the rest please share.

Cresteds and Gargs are rare in S.A nevermind the rest. Promlem is I live far away from the expos and big reptile stores. In my town Bearded dragons, Corn snakes and Iguanas are as exotic as you get and i dont live in a small town. Our country just very behind. But i go to every expo possible and what they have there is all i see. Im not complaining about this dont get me wrong, i think it creates awsome opportunity for me, I have big dreams for the future.

I read about the Trachies bearing live young it is amazing, would love to see that. I have madagascar hissing roaches and just beacase they bear live young makes me love them more they so cute.

What other Geckos you like thats not in the rach family?
