Re: It's Angie

Your kids are really cute. DH is OK, too! and of course, the BPs are gorgeous. I hope you've explained to your little boy that he shouldn't ever put a snake around his neck if you or Daddy is not there--it's a good way to get strangled. Snakes are like guns--always loaded.

lol...no he can't reach them, there is a lock on the cage, they are in my room which he is not allowed in, and he knows that he's not allowed to handle them without an adult there with him.

Re: It's Angie

Well, I figured you are smart enough to have done that already, but I'm not so sure about some other people who might happen upon this thread & see the pics. Glad you've got a lock on the cage.

Also glad I don't have to worry anymore except when my grandkids are visiting. And so far, they're not quite big enough to get the clips off the tank. Whew!

Re: It's Angie

My son likes to try and take the wooden box off the cage cuz he will sit in front of the cage for an hour or so even if my snake is in it's hide he will just keep looking in the hide. it is really cute. he is almost two and he will hopefully learn soon that he doesn't have to look into the cage from the top and that he can look from the front through the glass. i need to find a good way to secure the top

Re: It's Angie

It's really cool that you're teaching your children not to be afraid of snakes. I know so many people who freak out at the thought of one; they're the type who would panic and do something stupid if they ever saw one in the wild outdoors (e.g., their own backyard!).

I taught my sons how to catch them properly (and how NOT to catch them--like not by the tail when you can't see the head!), how to identify them--important where I live, as we have venomous snakes (goes with not catching one when you can't see its head!), and how to care for them. We learned a lot about them together.
