No problem. I friend of mine wanted to go back to school for architecture but she didn't have the credits. Instead, she attended adult school and picked up science classes. I tutored her for a bit and it was really cool to realise I knew more than I thought I did

Anyway, my last bit of advice is to work your butt off in college and get into uni. Even if you are unable to get in through the college, you can always apply on your own. You might not get as many credits but you can still get in.
Science companies like the letters after your name so a PEng will likely get you promoted faster than CET or whatever the certification is for mech eng techs. You might consider architecture yourself. Engineers are a dime a dozen but the big bucks are in architecture. (You have to be good at it though.)
And join the local chapter of the engineering society.
