Christina Yes System you probably can but we have to consider rate exchange, shipping, duty fees and taxes. This effects the Canadian market.

I think the point here is .. medical quality is a bit of overkill for our needs .. especially at that price. If you could find some good quality feeding tongs, and get them up here for $10 to $20 you'd be laughing, but medical quality haemostats for $40 or so is going to take $20 away from the snake fund.

Quervo. What is we got a bunch of people together and ordered a wackload? That would help a bit with shipping and maybe we could get some sort of discount? But do we know enough people who would want a pair?

Yes Jeff I do have somewhere to get them right now at very optimal pricing! That is why I am trying to find out the market on them I am approaching this on a business end of matters.
Should we or shouldnt we include this product in our list of supplies?
Yes I can get them not a prob! If there is market! I want to bring them to the 17th show if there is but they will be as priced in one of my other replies.
As for getting hemos up here for 10 or 20 Canadian medical quality or not it is not possible we are on the search and this is the best we can get.
Do you realise that right no 18 inch goes for $50 we are cutting the retail price because we are able to get such a good deal but we have to have the order in by Friday. As well 24" go for 65-70.
So as you can see comparing the prices we are offering a really good deal.
I like to know peoples preference for feeding there reptiles this helps us to hunt and find good prices for every one to help raising our herps more affordable and enjoyable!
Christina
PS If you dont want to say on here but you are interested please pm me or email me ty

Christina, in my mind, and a lot of other herper's, hemostats is the ONLY way to feed snakes larger then 3 feet! I honestly think you should be able to sell 20 pairs at a reptile show, but people can be funny sometimes. I would only ever use them and I know a lot of people who do, but trying to convince cheapo Canadians to buy $50 "tongs" may be tough. I wish you luck. Advertise like heck if you do get them in. I hope you can sell everything!!

Hey, thanks!!
Let me know how the show goes. If I were, I'd advertise like heck here and other places that you're bringing the hemostats in. Create interest (even though it should ALREADY be there if people knew what was good for them, ha ha!!). Make it seem like people are totally missing out by not having this wonderful herp tool (which they are), and then they should sell. I don't see why not. Best of luck!!

Hemostats are great because they have a small "point of attack". Meaning that where they grab the rodent (or whatever) not much of the tool itself is showing. Thus, the snake cannot damage its mouth while striking. This is important with snakes with a STRONG feeding response! ie) Boas and Pythons!!!
Hemostats rule the world.

we usually hold the rodent by the tail so it swings, gives a little distance and alot more movement.

So at my current exchange rate observed by me while traveling from detroit to my home (on the billboard for casino windsor)
My 18 inch hemos are 15.60cad and my 24 are 18.72, after the cost of driving to get them and home again I probably will spend no more then 1 usd on gas. Like quervo said, medical grade hemos are overkill. I'm sure with shipping and taxes and the exchange you could find a less expensive supplier for hemos and sell them at a much more favorable price. Since the prices that I have are definatly not a bulk price I figure that the prices for someone with a business liscense would be noticably lower.
I know that its not an option for you right now but on friday I will try to enquire where they get their hemo's from and pass that info on to you.

Well to all we have decided not to order them.
It will work itself out eventually I have decided that the market is small and not worth it for us right now.
Maybe eventually people will shop around and realise that the prices I quoted are really good! No hard feelings at all we are just starting out and everything is a learning experience!
Systm: if you can get that info great but we still have to take in consideration shipping, duty fees and taxes as well. It is at least a 4hr drive for us to just get to the border and I dont know the gas market in the US but it sucks here!
THANKYOU ALL FOR YOUR INPUT IT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED AND HELPFULL

Ha ha Syst3m!!! A BUCK for gas? What are you driving? A Go-cart!!?? LOL!! Plus, its not like you can just drive to the border and fling them out the window!! Even if the border is 5 minutes from your house, maybe the point of sale for these tools is 4 hours away from the border?
Ha ha!
Having said that, are those 24 inch Hemos pretty good? You wanna send me a photo of a pair (if you have one handy. don't go to any great lengths). Thanks bud!
Too bad Christina. At least you're not scrambling around now trying to get it all set up. Now you can take your time, avdertise, get some pre-sales, etc etc, and then order them! Good Luck.

Hey Christina .. sorry, I wasn't trying to rain on your parade, But you have to look at what you are competing with. I can get hemostats off Ebay for as low as US$10.00 .. I can get them to my door for as little as cad$22.00 (I say as little 'cause it depends on what the auction goes for). Now you would probably get the "I'm here, they're here .. we might as well buy some" crowd, but if people have time to think about it, they'll usually save the 10 bucks and praise themselves for their smart shopping.
