well as with any snake or reptile from a tropical or sub tropical local they require heat. Special lighting is not necessary, but they do need temps between 80-86 with a basking area. You can find out more by reading some caresheets.
boas need a large cage with a heat gradient from 80 to 95-100 degrees and a spot on the floor at about 95-100...it must be high enough to climb and also feel secure...several hide spots and CLEAN water.
most of all...be patient...let the snake settle in(at least 2wks) before handling or feeding. and wait at least 24 to 48 hrs after feed to handle. 2-3 times a week at 20-30min is more than enough...less is better.by the time it is grown you`ll have an animal that will love to be handled...
