Explain this advertisement to me......

It is obvious that Jeff did not start this thread to attack anyone, and he did not even mention whose ad it was until that person joined in, thus exposing themselves. Please keep this to a discussion about genetics and the representation of animals, as opposed to childish attacks like this:

Actually, if you did intend to help him, you would have sent him a pm explaining to him what a sunglow is.

Also, saying that there is an add on this cite was intended for people to go look and know who made it to also laugh at it.

Taking your frustrations out on me isn't going to get you anywhere, is it? I try my best to be fair, and left this up as it was a valid discussion and to give you a chance to defend your ad...I guess directing your frustrations at me is okay, because I'm a moderator...

I'm not friends with Favelle, I don't think I've ever even spoken to him, but I respect his posts and think he's quite knowledgeable. I don't see where it would appear I was biased here.

I've never even talked to Heather before. Not even a single PM or email. Never. But I respect her opinion and I find that more times than not, I'm usually agreeing with what she has to say.

If everything is sooo touchy these days that we can't discuss what to label the genetics of animal for sale, then we've truly hit an all-time low in the biz. Oh well. Fun to see people's true nature come out under duress.

Moral? Properly label the animals you're selling and you'll avoid being ridiculed or what you perceive to be ridicule.

And how does that help anyone who maybe a bit green in genetics to see the ad say one thing, and then another, especially when maybe they were thinking about buying the animal in question. The whole thing was brought to my attention because I had a customer who was loking for DH Sunglows and asked me if I had any. I don't right now, but he saw the ad and asked me about it. I had no idea what to tell him, as not even I could figure the ad out.

I've sent Shawn a PM in the past about misrepresenting the genetics of animals. I had hoped it would have opened his eyes and made him take an extra second or two to make sure what he's selling IS what he is saying is for sale. You can't blame anyone for calling you on it, man.

Just as a side note to others, make darn sure you get the genetics right. If you don't know, ask. Remember, a good portion of the people that will be considering your animals KNOW what they are talking about. Mistakes are mistakes and they happen but try to get it right. It makes a difference to your reputation in the end and, of course, the sale of the animal.

That's the whole thing Crannie. How can you expect people to think that you know what you're doing, when you can't even get the genetics of YOUR OWN ANIMAL right? If I was "boa" I wouldn't be having a great Sunday evening, knowing that I can't even get the genetics right of an animal I was selling. And remember, none of this would have even taken place had the animal been labelled properly. An animal can't be 66% het albino AND 50% het albino at the same time. You make an ad like that, expect to be called out on it. And for people to whine about him being called out on, tough nuts. If you don't want to be corrected, DON'T MAKE MISTAKES. I would expect ANYONE to do the same for me if I labelled an animal wrong. Especially with the amount of money flying around for some of these creatures.

Not sure why this ended up in a flame war, but I have an sneaky suspicion that if it was any other breeder, they would have simply replied "haha my bad, thanks for pointing it out" and then changed the ad. Most of the breeders I deal with would have. But then again, most of the breeders I know wouldn't have made that blunder.
