Average male weight and length

im curious why you'd say human scales are not accurate to weigh snakes?

as i stated i weigh my self and then i weigh my self with the snake and subtract the difference. sure im not gonna get down to grams or ounces but when dealing with boa's im only interested in the pounds.

and i never showed annoyance in my other post as i stated over there i would love it for someone to show me how i too can tell the tone of some ones typing. people like to assume there is too much attitude in the way we type. i had waited i think what was it 15 hours b4 i challenged someone else to answer that was all it was i asked a question and was looking for an answer was all there was no attitude or annoyance there. there was no annoyance with the way deviled typed other than i didnt understand what he was saying. seems to me you were reading more into something that wasnt there

On weighing snakes depending on size I either use;



I just zero a scale with an empty tub on it and then place the boid in it and there you go, I put a brace underneath the tub to get the full weight pressed on the scale.

This system works as I too tried the me/boid on scale as well and the numbers are the same, but hate seeing the additional weight of me

Adult males do not "normally average" 7ft. And 8ft male is unsusually large. Most of the sites member's adult FEMALE boas, average between 6-8ft, some as big as 9 or 10. But that is still very big for them. Males will normally average 5-6.5ft. They can get bigger, obviously, but dont expect them to easily hit 7ft unless you powerfeed.

I've actually seen a lot of males hit the 7' mark, and would say it is a rather common size. As for powerfeeding, that won't really give you a larger snake than one that was fed modestly, as it is really all in the genes. Powerfeeding has more of an influence on the rate of growth, rather than the size. The only time feeding will have a noticable impact on overall size is a severely deprived snake, over the growing years.
