You can be a covenant in single player. In a few of the levels, you are playing from the "Arbiter" 's point of view. It's pretty cool, he has a camoflage instead of a light, but it only lasts for like 10 seconds.

Data Ripper, the code was only finished in October. Making it very unlikely that you did get it a month and a half ago. Regardless, if you had gotten in a month and a half ago, that could have been bad because had some other gaming company got it, then they could have used the code and voila, you've just ruined the game

Cruciform, speaking of UT, have you seen the new Unreal engne at work? Absolutely insane. Taking bump-mapping to a whole new level!
Yep It looks sweet. When the critter crawled out of the sewer in the test videos my jaw hit the floor. But that's showcase stuff too, very hard to implement that kind of quality in-game when there's multiple characters, hi-res textures and post-fx competing for memory and CPU time.

Adding a physics engine is a killer too. It's going to be nice when the next generation of video cards actually take over some of the work on that aspect too. I've hear mutterings that there will be dedicated physics processors, not just GPUs.

Only 4 more days to Half Life 2. I really want to see what kind of tricks they pull off with the Source engine. Some of the scenes look amazing, but there are other sections of the game that appear to be as simple in geometry and texturing as the original game. Still, gameplay will rule the day over style any day.

HL-2 and the Source engine are going to put pretty much the gaming scene on its head. Its going to have Doom-3 graphics with Half-Life gameplay. How can you go wrong?

I love this game. So much better than halo one. I really like the new maps and the multi player is awesome. A lot more snipping guns now too. Even the sound seems better. I think it was level three that you can be a covenant, didn't get to far in the game yet, so not really sure if there are any other level like that.

Hy all of you halo2 freak.fananoids! I played the game and I was quite impressed. Again, this game for some reason gets way too much hype. For a fps this game is good. But many mmorpg's, rpgs, and these new driveing games easily blast the hype away and put halo2 in reality.

HALO2 rating: I would rate it 4 out of 5. Some things I wish were better were a more controllable ally team, better graphics. Lets be honest, fable has some better graphics out there and it's not receiveing as much as hype. Fable is another game I own. Halo2 like the original felt way too short. For such a hype I would expect alot more levels and hours put in to gameplay. I beat it on the third mode probably in about 10 hours or so? Something close to that atleast. Also there was an alright selection of guns, but there could have been way more. I love watching things die on video games so I wish there were many more death stances. I also heard on mtv that they were having bands play some music for an instrumental version of their songs. I heard maybey 2. Which were all close to the end of the game. Out of the many artists that were shown on halo2 I was quite appauled they did not have many action packed instrumentals on there.

To reply to derrick, that was illegal and if you were caught downloading it you were charged with 100,000 dollars and a long jailtime.

Just to put in my own words in a shorter form, I was expecting it to be quite similar to halo. I was right. I think they could let up on the graphics a little and start giving us more time to play. I must say the lan parties are fun though... Ofcoarse there are much better xbox live games that are fps's...So I am not that shooken up about the game. It;s fun just like halo, and I beat it in less than a day. Hey, go rent it. Or if you like online play go buy it. It's sure to keep the avid gamer happy ONLINE!

Dataripper: As a game developer who makes a living off people buying games, I couldn't really give a **** if you pirate something in your home. But if you brag about it, then you're sticking it in the faces of people who worked hard to bring a product to you.

So you got it a month ago. What do you want, a hero cookie?

Jackass.

And back on track with the thread:

I picked it up last night... actually the GF did, because bills ate my paycheck in one foul swoop (argh).

It's the same old Halo gameplay (not a bad thing) with some tweaks, but the story and event scripting are fantastic. It keeps you moving, entertained, and a part of the action. I think that it and HL2 will be the new standards for game design for some time to come.

The voice credits have a few surprises in them too. Laura Prepon from 'That 70s Show', Michelle Rodriguez 'Girl Fight', Keith David, and John Hurt, though Hurt's been an obvious cast member for a while. Rodriguez sounds decent, Prepon not that great, but Hurt and David shine.

Definitely worth picking up. And I'm not even a Halo fanboy though I'm on my way to becoming a Halo2 fanboy :P

I think I'm going to go play some more right now

Getting a guaranteed charge against someone of 100k is virtually impossible, as judges typically get to decide what the amount with be within a range.

Microsoft and Bungie were aggressively pursuing any information on people offering links to or distributing the game itself, then banning users from Xbox Live and its forums. I won't be surprised if there are civil suits and criminal charges at some point, but as far as enforcement of copyright laws go, it's not really cut and dried on what the punishments will be.

10 ways the Canadian version of Halo 2 differs from the U.S. version:

1. The guns are registered (but not very well).
2. Injured players get publicly funded health care.
3. Computer players apologize when you shoot them.
4. "Cuba" level is unlocked.
5. Tim Hortons product placement.
6. Two clans named "Roughriders."
7. Annoying players can be kicked "oot" of multi-player mode.
8. "Melting Pot" level renamed "Cultural Mosaic."
9. Officially refuses invitations to join U.S.-led multi-player campaigns, then quietly helps behind the scenes without telling anyone.
10. Price tag: $59.99.

hehe
