It also depends on the species of pygmy.

There is still alot of info that is needed on the pigmys i wouldent recomend these chams to anyone who is not experienced. Just my opinion of corse.

Carpets, although they are small they still need alot of space. and can be quite fussy, but they are quite sexy. Read up on them and be sure that is what u want. they are also a very shy cham.

Aren't they really expensive though? What do you mean by a lot of room for a cage size? what size?

Ousties get very big they are one of the biggest species, so they require a very large cage I would say a 4x4 x2d minimum IMHO , they are not that expencive most panthers are more expencive then ousties these days, but they are agressive very aggressive.

I agree panthers in the states cost a lot more then here in canada. norcallizardman there is a very very nice breeder in your area that just has the most amazing chameleons, and in the states price are around 400 bucks. Carpents are cheap i find 50 to 100 CDN and pygmys are like 20 bucks each in the states

Not all panthers are that expensive in the states. I saw one breeder advertising Tamataves and Ambanjas for $99.99. The expensive panthers are usually from breeders, who have a good reputation, and feel it is alright to rip people off because of their succuss I don't think I would pay 400$ for any panther, except MAYBE an Ambilobe

High prices from breeders aren't rip-offs. CB animals cost way more to get to marketable size than WC. A good breeder will spare no expense for the good of the cham, which in turn makes it more expensive to buy. If a breeder with a 'good reputation' is ripping people off, wouldn't that make him/her a rip-off artists? A rip-off artist with a good reputation is hard to find.

It's also not uncommon to raise your advertised prices to weed out the riff-raff looking for a cheap disposable pet. Once you find the prospective buyer is serious, a good cham keeper, then lower the price, call it a discount. It's not guaranteed to work, but it does often enough.

You can decide on the maximum you'd pay for any species, but remember, you get what you pay for.

I onestly dont think that the majority of cham breeder dont make alot of money, It is a labor of love for most. sure there can be money but its not too much,

the reasion that the panther locals are soo expencive is to make sure the chams are pure and healthy and u know what u are payign for.

I shudder at the thought of panthers being as cheap as veilds my god the poor animals,

Yes dragon its all about marking up the prices to detter people who shouldnt own chameleons and impulse shoppers. I would tottally agree. All my panthers will be advertised at 600 ( cage and all included) but special "deals" will be made with peoplewho know what they are talking about.
Also hook me up with the carpet breeders guys ive been wanting and reading up on them ever since I first laid eyes on a beautiful blue, red, and white female. Man are they hott

oh ya Matt B those are the types of comments that are just not needed. You really looking to set me off again arent you. Well sorry to say its not going to happen this time buddy.
You just keep having an attitude like that its really nice.

You might want to start out with one type of cham like im assuming you already have then another instead of jumping right into it.
Matt
ps I was not trying to set you off in any way and if you you read my post I never said that his "contact" shipped to canada.
