With all respect, Scales, but... I don't agree and perhaps 90% of the herpers out there will be with me. Rocks eat big, Anacondas eat big, but let's face it... Retics eat HUGE!!! I have pics of retics with freakin' large guts. These beasts take on deer, pigs and even black bears from what i've heard.

Sorry Jimmy but from what i have heard, most people including myself seem to agree that no other snake can eat a huge meal like an afroc
I have heard stories of anacondas, retics, burms and afrocs eating huge meals, but the african rock python seems to take the cake
In fact i am not even sure that i agree that the retic could eat a larger meal than a large green anaconda if we're making it a competition man

OK, tell me of any proven item taken by an afrock and then prove to me that an adult female retic CAN NOT or hasn't already taken down at least that same amount.
HAs everybody gone crazy?! We are talking about the largest snake in the world here...
Not only do they eat bigger meals than any other boid but they seem to eat a lot faster too.

Hey Jimmy,
I as well agree that afrocks can eat larger meals than the Retic, but if you are so sure that they can't then provide some proof. First of all do you have a Retic and if so show some pics of your snake eating or is this all talk?
Well if you have the proof produce it.
This is not meant to be an insult but you seem so sure.
So lets see what you got!

I Have 4 retics and have had several others before. I also have an afrock(used to have another) and my retics have always surprised me much more when it comes to feeding time. I had a little, just out the egg, sulawesi female not much thicker than a pencil eating adult rats...WOW, if my rocks could do that also i duno, at least they never did. I sold that little retic, but i can only imagine what she'll be able to gulp down when full grown. As a matter of fact i have an idea, check this link:

Jimmy - sorry, but Afrocks are the kings of big food, and 90% of herpers would agree with me on that, because it is true.
The record food item for a snake was a 160 lb impalla that was pulled from a 16' afrock. They have the ability to open their mouths wider than any snake - which has been proven by skull morphology and muscle and ligament structure.
I'm not sure what the website you posted was supposed to help with.

HAHAHA!!! 160 lb is the average weight of a human being and retics have consumed humans before. Also 16' is as much as rocks grow (ok, let's give a maximum of 19') and retics go all the way up to 26' or 27'. Now, what you are telling me is that a nearly 30 foot snake cannot eat as big as a mere 19 footer?!

Retics have eaten humans? 160 lb humans? Prove it....
I'm not here to argue with you, just trying to convey some correct information.
The largest African Rock python on record is over 25' - they get really big. I know of a captive 20' rock that ate 50 lb goats regularily. I'd put a 16' african rock python in competition with any retic you can find - as I said, it has to do with their skull and the ligaments - they evolved in Africa where big eaters rule - and Afrocks are king of the big food, as I said before.
And, as far as the snake eating human thing goes - in the early 1900's and before, there was a tribe in Africa that worshipped the African rock python, and would leave a virgin teenage girl at the burrow entrance for the great snake, as a sacraficial offering. Of course there are no pictures of this, but then again, I've only ever seen 1 picture of a retic eating a person that might be real - and it was a young person. The shoulders on a human prevent us from being eaten by a snake, unless we are a small child.

Rocks just rawk like that - retics might grow longer, true enough - but that doesnt equate to them being more prodigious eaters.
