Hmm.......seems that most who think theft is less than a true crime are those who act upon the desire to take what is not theirs. Unfortunately when people buy something it is with their hard earned money, money created by working towards a goal set by an employer. Now, we all may as well be lazy and just waltz around taking what we want instead of earning it, of course, only so long as no one gets hurt in the process.

Theft in my eyes is one of the worst crimes. Obviosly murder, rape... ect are worse, but theft is such a huge problem cam hanna, i dont even know what to say to you. You think You would be saying oh well... if 11 000 dollars got stolen from you? HA, theives need to be punished swiftly and harshly to put a stop to it. If you cut off the hand of every theif caught theft would plumet by 99%. Like julie said, people work hard and save to buy somthing they desire, and then a low life POS comes and takes it? Oh well theft happens. That is quite possibly the most moronic thing I have ever read in my life.

Yet it works
Crime will always be up unless the criminal has the real threat of grave bodily harm, mutilation or death to risk at getting caught.
A few nationally televised executions (pay per view comes to mind ) or mutilations would make a serious impact on crime rates, but unfortunately we would have a difficult time making that happen thanks to all the tree hugging hippy crowd that says criminals aren't to blame, but everyone else is.
