Christina I do not see what you are upset about, or why you’re 'ticked' or why you would think twice about asking questions. If anything, think twice about the information people tell you. After all, it was only one person in that other thread, who had his vet tell him 'the sun can burn snakes.' Your question was answered, sure in a joking manner poking fun, but not at you, to whoever told you that.

By all means, do not keep your mouth shut; say what needs to be said. I do not take offense to text on an online forum, nor do I get upset over peoples suggestions or opinions.

Well i figured you were asking about snakes considering that it said SNAKES... the thread says "Taking your SNAKES outside". after all you can find boas outside in countries where the sun is even worse . good luck. have fun.

Quoting myself...

My vet warned that snakes can actually get sunburned quite easily. *shrug*
Note the *shrug*, indicating that I was unsure about what I had been told. I don't know where my vet got this information but I find it hard to believe too. Whether a snake can get sunburnt or not, it can still overheat if left too long without a retreat. Same with sun loving Beardies - a shady spot must still be provided.

Of course, any living creature can be harmed from being exposed to a source of heat for a prolonged period.

I don't believe I asked you to see why I'm ticked.

And thank you oh so much with the advice, I do think many times over advice/info/opinions people give me....hence asking multiple questions on the subject.

Perhaps I should have reworded my question to " Will sun exposure harm nocturnal snakes." And NO, I am not asking that....as I've found the information and reasoning, to answer my question fully, elsewhere.

So I need not return to this topic

Cheers. and thanks to those who actually took time to put a serious response.

If any of your snakes are albino, then be VERY careful about their exposure to the sun. I have no idea if they have other means of protection, but the lack of melanins would leave them very vulnerable to UV.
